I Platinumed this on PS4, along with it's prequel on the Vita, so you can disregard my playtime at the time of posting this.

One of the characters is a masochist that gives positive reinforcement when you bring up the hands in the Dressing Room and slap her, 10/10 game.

...oh, yeah, there's a pretty solid Dynasty Warriors-like game attached to that, too, with like 20+ characters, unlockable moves, combos, and customization items for the characters, a surprisingly emotional and wholesome story, and honestly maybe a bit too much content in the form of side missions and extra events to do, especially if you get the DLC. There's online versus too, but that's dead, and it was busted on PS4, so I know it'd be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on PC. Some minor writing edits(mostly for character ages), but nothing too bad in regards to localization, it's no worse than the original PS4 release in that regard, which was also mostly fine.

If your Weebery has reached an advanced stage and you like the idea of beating groups of poorly-clothed anime girls until their clothes literally explode from their bodies, this is a solid, fun game that runs well and has little if any technical issues to speak of, minus a lack of robust setting or options, but it's a somewhat low-effort port of a b-tier console fan-service game, you take what you can get. Grab it on sale, play it in short bursts(it gets really repetitive if you go for completion), and use a controller when playing.

NOTE: Some of the DLC is no longer accessible for purchase/play(through...normal means, anyway), so be aware of that when buying.

1000/10, god-tier music, enemy designs and bullet patterns. I hope other games Shigatake worked on get to come to Steam someday!

They removed the demo from the store after the release of the full game. You know, the thing that allows you to see what the product is like before making a purchase.

That's all you need to know.

It's a masterpiece, the most fun I've had with a game in years. I'd already bought it day one for the PS5 and gotten all 3 of the endings and finished the Log Hunts, then I bought it again, just so I could play it on my Steam Deck, which I used to get all of the endings except the 3rd one.

It runs even better on my PC than it does on my PS5.

This game is phenomenal, period.

If you buy it and you get stuck on the first boss, don't give up; try to keep the pressure up constantly w/the shoulder missiles and the rifle until you get an opening to use your plasma sword.

I've already destroyed this game on PS4, and I only really bought it so I could Alt+Tab to it while drawing on my PC(and I've only recently begun really playing it thanks to my Steam Deck), so this is just a big block of gushy nonsense; skip to the very bottom for my overall verdict.

This is an incredibly fun game that will absolutely seem cheap and unfair for the first 10-20 hrs. or so, but if you stick with it, you'll find a game with more diverse build options, deeper combat, and more replay value than anything else on the market it could be compared to. The way it plays is unlike anything else, and(if you're a Souls vet in particular)some of the new habits you'll have to pick up will take a bit to stick. The amount of systems, commands, and equipment choices available to you at any one point can easily overwhelm.

...and that's a good thing.

The fast-paced nature of the combat, coupled with timing juggling stance changes to restore your stamina to the highest possible point mid-combo and being mindful of opportunities to neutralize enemy attacks via the Yokai transformation system, contribute to one of the most engaging second-to-second gameplay loops I've ever encountered. The cash and prizes you get when wrecking an opponent is a nice audio/visual bonus that, if you really get into tweaking and optimizing your equipment, just makes everything even crazier, once you get into stuff like debuffs and support skills. I can't stress enough how insane this game becomes at higher levels of play; the stamina meter, for instance, changes from a resource to be carefully guarded into an active buff dispenser, boosting attack strength, stamina restoration speed, and/or canceling stamina loss for blocks/dodges if you time stance changes well as you attack. each weapon has it's own skill tree, with stance-specific skills and attacks further augmenting how you play. None of the weapons are objectively bad. Everything is good if you just dig deep enough.

This game goes from unfair to seeming completely broken with the aid of some light reading and basic middle-school math, and that's great; the game rewards your knowledge of it's systems with fun.

I'm too busy making fools explode w/well-timed high-stance Odachi swings and scooping up their belongings to pay attention to things like the story or character motivations, so if you care about things like that, I suggest something more like Dear Esther or Gone Home, this might not be your jam.

TL;DR: An ultra-difficult mix of Ninja Gaiden+Diablo 3 w/Souls EXP-loss-on-death mechanics; you might not like it if you don't like fussing over numbers and items in your inventory, but if that doesn't bother you(or, like me, you live for that)then it's perfect ADHD dopamine fuel, would recommend, 10/10

Early Access Review
I got this game when it was on sale, so that definitely affects my opinion of the product as a whole.

The base game is fine for a while, but it expands greatly with mods, mainly Undead Legacy and other similar overhaul packages. I got it at a steep discount of around $8, and while I enjoyed what I played for a long time(even if most of that time was spent testing builds for bases), the developers seem hell bent on preventing the players from having fun unless it's the way they want them to have fun, which is where mods come in. Add to that the lack of optimization and generally janky look and feel to the game(it looks way worse than screenshots would suggest), and I can't recommend this at any price above that aforementioned steep discount.

I've spent $8 on worse things.
