Not sure how anyone is taking an hour to do their first automation which is wood harvester-stumpy spark.

After you give the quatermaster the three minions, leave to the mine, go back to town, collect the three minions by calling them back off the path, and collect the wood

Some maps have more convientent placing of resources, but overall as long as you manage you sparks right its pretty simple.

Learn the patterns of the monsters to farm resorces. then it becomes really easy to use your sparks to farm them for Aether chunks. you can use the paths to mark spawn points so you can know where beetlephants and things are.

This game is not finished, but its already a lot of fun. I am excited for when new biomes come out!

BUY this game. the absolute dedication and love that has been poured into this game is insane. seven years going and there are still free updates. this is hands down one of the best, if not THE BEST farming/life sims out there. the NPC's have story lines and your frienship really matters in their lives. what you do in town matters. you can focus where you want, be the weird hermit on the farm if you want, be everybodies best friend, be the farming mogel, you can spend years making your famr perfect and then go and make friends when your satisfied. your spouse helps on the farm, gives you presents sometimes, and has reactions when you talk to them you only get once married. you can have kids. if you get sick of being married you can get divorced and still have the kids, or turn them into doves. you can raise slimes. its just a fun little game. oh and you can decorate your farm and your house. make clothes. if you don't have this game yet and you like this type of game get it. you will not find a better one. every minute of play is worth it, every penny you spend on this you get back threefold in enjoyment.

This is an absolutely beautiful waste of money. Don't get it.

its gorgeous. and thats pretty much it.

all the gameplay is just... rinse and repeat. the enemy are exactly the same from dungeon to dungeon, just reskins with the *same* mechanics. your combat is the same as well. you get a staff and a three hit combo. spells and potions are your only way to vary things.

other gameplay issue, cutsey animations that WASTE ALL YOUR TIME.

completly level up critter catching and max out your critter net AND STILL MISS OUT ON A CRITTER.

no farm help unless you count potions. you have to spend your mana to use your tool upgrades.

for a farming/life sim its just sad. the relationships don't really matter. the people never really change with your interaction, they barley register the accomplishments you do by helping the town.

I want to love this game but I HATE IT. its so pretty, it has such potential but it so.... lacking. you can finish the main game in 27 hours or less is you ignore side quests and relationships.

outfits do absolutly nothing for you despite being a PITA to get.

time doesn't pause when your rearranging your farm so you can lose three or more in game days trying to arrange things.

only upside is that if you pass out you don't lose anything.

there is no real benifit to going to bed, since you still get your cozy benifits even if you don't go to sleep and the well rested bonus is bull poop.

just save yourself the money. go buy stardew valley if you haven't or a story of seasons game or hell pretty much any other game. its not worth it.

and the DLC ticks me off. its so lack luster and absolutely worthless. I want to find the developer and smack them over the head with a frozen trout I let rot in the sun before I froze it.

just don't bother. please learn from my fail and avoid this pretty but terrible game.

its so pretty.... I really really want to like it but it just annoys me so much that I am so angry at it. buy something else.

I really wish I could recommend this game. I want to love it so badly. it is a game that if it wern't so buggy and glitchy and crashing I would adore. I have put tons of hours into it, and enjoyed some of them, but I've also been very frustrated by it. Trying to build is SUCH A PAIN. if you don't use someone elses build packs its nearly impossible. I don't know how anyone builds in game and comes out with something that looks good. The mods must make their builds outside the game cause if your doing it inside you have way more skill and paitence than I do.

once you get to a decent amount of villagers it becomes so computer resource heavy that it. Slows. Down. This means combat against invading goblins can literally crash the game. And half the time they come running in before your ready for them and your village is then doomed because you cannot recover from it. You can prevent invasion by building a trench 1 block by 2 blocks deep around your village. this means the enemies cannot get in to you until your ready to fight.

This game has so much potential. I don't know why nothing has been done with it. its playable only if you use mods, not if you try and play it as a stand alone. that is why I don't recommend it. The people who are supporting the game are the modders and they don't get paid so its unfair.

If you like stardew valley, Havest moon, animal crossing, rune factory type games, you will love my time at portia. there is so much to do, so many people to interact with. mining, fighting, exploring, crafting, it will keep you busy for days and have you coming back for more.

its a relaxing and entertaining game that doesnt stress you out.
