Early Access Review
This game is loads of Fun! Yes it has it's bugs and glitches, people have to remember that this is an early access game. Essentially it is a work in progress. The building mechanics in Atlas are far better than a similar game made by Grapeshot's sister company wild card, called Ark: Survivial Evolved. The Massive amount of freedom you have in this game is definately a great thing to me. Now grant you I have only played PVE on official servers, but I have a total of 142 hours of play time in the three weeks in which I have had the game. I find it very addicting and fun. I know that a lot of other reviews have compared Atlas to it's sister game ARK, and that is not fair to this game. Atlas is based on ARK a very few ways. Atlas creatures (well some cretures) share essentially the same model from their counter part in ark, but as gamers we should not expect perfection at first. Yes Atlas could have launched with no creatures at all, but it wouldnt be as fun in my opinion. Now I only have a Bear because I havent had the time to dedicate to going on long trip to get others. I do much prefer the taming methods in this game as well. Atlas is mainly focused around the ships. With the ships comes some annoying glitches. Creatures tend to glitch into the ship from the main deck. I have had to break planks off of my ship in order to get a creature free. Another glitch is spawning off the ship if you respawn while it is moving. I know that Grapeshot will eventually fix these glitches as well as others. I look forward to the changes to come, and I welcome and new additions to the game. The Ships of the Damned are very fun and challenging to fight, they also are somewhat rewarding. I feel they could increase the loot amount and qualities of the Wreckage Crates you get after defeating them.
If I had to rate Atlas on a scale of one to ten, I would give it a Rating of 8 out of 10. I give it an 8 out of 10 not because of glitches or bugs, but because it needs more in the way of Server Performance more than anything. Ping levels around where the Compnay I am with are rather high. Now grant you there are alot of people and companies in these areas, but still Grapeshot should be able to find a way to better the server Performance in highly populated areas. I know that they are constantly improving the game and servers, so im not going to harp on them to hard. My Thanks to Grapeshot and the Dev team for this incredibly fun expreience that is ATLAS!
