Regardless of what you think politically of cops; even if you are like me and you are anti cop in your own beliefs with previous law enforcement education putting me in the role of a SWAT officer in game actually really put things into perspective.

I love the feelings this game evokes of playing as a SWAT team in a dystopian America, it all feels so at home, relateable and interesting and plausible to be happening in reality. The crimes and the scenes in this game feel real to the point of disturbing and even emotionally provoking. This game makes you wonder what it must actually be like to be a SWAT member dealing with these issues.

On the other hand the tactical gameplay both for single player, or CO-OP with your friends is superb. I don't like playing with random people in public lobbies as people are not well coordinated and often kill civilians on purposes or ruin the game etc. So play single player with the ai teammates and really take advantage of commanding your ai teammates with persistence! If they don't listen the first time command your ai teammates again and they will likely do the action or just move them over slightly and they will breach or unstuck themselves etc. I have no huge problems with the friendly ai just minor criticisms and it can improved with mods as well to make ai on enemies and teammates even better with SWAT & Suspects AI overhaul mod. Mods make this game shine even more and push it to the way it should be played to a even more personally tailored experience and more realistic, immersive and detailed experience.

Remember, you are not the military. in this game you are trying to preserve life, save civilians, handle volatile situations and only take life when it is required you do so. That's how it should be played. You are in the city of Los Suenos, you are expected as one of the only SWAT teams in the whole funded deprived region and station to then take on the entire city in your crudely just put together police department...

The responsibility this game places on you, your team as well for your actions feels real and huge! I personally think shooting civilians should be punished more severely however.

On the other hand as much as I love this game, I am still on the side of ACAB in real life. But I love this game really puts policing as a SWAT team into perspective in how dangerous it is and how traumatic, adrenaline rushing or even scary as it can really be!
