WE DO IT! Resident Evil 2 was the best of the classic Resident Evil games, and this remake has broken it free from the shackles of tank controls, static camera angles, and ink ribbons, leaning more towards Resident Evil 4 gameplay. The dialogue between Leon and Claire is somewhat awkward and stilted, though it’s hardly a downgrade from the 1998 localization.

Enter the survival horror
I will always contend that static camera angles, tank controls, limited inventory systems, and ink ribbons are all benchmarks of poor design. This game is excellent regardless of such handicaps, and has possibly the best level design in the series.

This is the first traditional (read: not Smash Bros.) fighting game I've sunk any time into and I just hit 100 hours so I suppose it's earned a review.

Pros: The soundtrack is incredible, the graphics are beautifully animated, all of the character designs are intriguing (there's only like 1 "generic guy holding sword" character), and only get more so if you know the lore behind all of them. If, like me, you've never played a fighting game before, this is a forgiving first entry that teaches you the basics but by golly does it move at lightspeed once you've mastered the fundamentals.

Meh: The lore is an off-the-rails-in-a-good-way mess. I'm not sure if it's dumb anime junk or a masterpiece. There's precious little single player content, and the story mode is just a 3 hour non-interactive cutscene. The lobby is kind of a scrappy mechanic.

Strong Recommend at any price. Get the Ultimate Edition. Pick it up, get obsessed with it, annoy your friends, family, and people in various Discord servers about it, and pray to Daisuke-san that Dizzy will be added next Season.

The gameplay is a fantastic improvement on the original and removes much of the clunky combat and "tomb raider" levels. You also have a useful map now! Without spoilers, the plot is also an excellent follow up as well. The graphics are ass, but you already knew that.
The only question I have is: why in the Builders name did they make Karras sound like that?

Pay to win was gauche 5 years ago Capcom nowadays it's actively repulsive I understand you have to sell your skins now instead of having them included with the game but this is wholly unnecessary

An unabashed love letter to Earnest Shackleton and the expedition of the Endurance, a premise which sold itself to me on it's own.

Desperately needs an endless mode of some sort. Still very cute.

You were not a good port, PTDE, but we still played you and loved you like one.

A must-have for the Half-Life connoisseur. I have so many good things to to say about this game, but I'll list the highlights:
The voice acting is excellent, the important lines are kept the same where they're the best, but slightly re-written where there's wiggle room for the writers to play around with generic npcs, while still keeping the tone consistent. The same is true of the levels, some of the more annoying bits have been changed or removed. On A Rail is even pretty good now! Finally, all of the weapons are punchy and feel great to use, even the little pistol.
The few complaints I have are nitpicks.
-Xen and Interloper are greatly improved, but still too long
-Snarks are still useless
-Ladders are only somewhat less hazardous
-The Hazard Course has to be downloaded from the workshop
-The music, while excellent and used effectively, is far too loud on its default setting (90). I would recommend turning it down some.
All in all, I can't ever imagine playing the original Half Life again over this. The Source Engine really does have limitless potential.
