A review for the other noobs out there.

First time playing Tekken. I've put in 14 hours (which I acknowledge is less than nothing), and I'm pretty sure I'm the single worst Tekken player alive. I have won a couple matches out of a few hundred, but even people with 10 game losing streaks beat me over and over. I get triple perfected pretty regularly (meaning I landed 0 hits in three consecutive rounds). I could put down the controller and fight as well as I do holding it (oh right: get a controller) All of this is to say that if you've never played Tekken before, as I hadn't, prepare to get REKT. Like absolutely annihilated. Every. Single. Time. If you want to get to a point where you can hold your own, you need to study this game harder than you studied calculus. If you jump right into matchmaking, you're gonna get juggled for 20 seconds straight, and you'll feel like punching your monitor. Get out of matchmaking and go watch tutorials online, read combos and practice them a billion times, then another billion. In fact, forget combos, learn how to move - you'll soon start hearing the mythology surrounding the "Korean backdash" and other seemingly obscure crap that actually matters a ton. Then once you take what you've studied into matchmaking, you're still gonna get destroyed because people know how to block and counter everything you just learned - so keep practicing. As frustrating as it is to get pulverized all the time, I have to respect the game for not going easy on people, and rewarding those who really spend time practicing. It takes itself and its players seriously, and newcomers shouldn't expect to waltz in and start winning rounds. You'll get there, but you have to, well, get there.

20 hours flew by as I trudged gracelessly through the glorious saga that is Half-Life. I picked up the Valve Complete Pack during the Autumn sale and decided to play the games chronologically as they were released. Right after I finished HL, I opened up TF Classic and spent an hour chasing Homer Simpson around a modded map and getting absolutely pulverized - Alt + F4 for now. I went back and started Opposing Force for more crowbar-infused madness.

My one and ONLY one complaint about Half-Life is pushing/dragging boxes around. It's a small part of the game, but my god.

I know I'm adding nothing by reviewing a game that's already widely considered one of the best ever, but please get this game.
