I beat the main game on Hard and think I learned enough to write about it:

-If you focus more on your cult, you'll be very, very powerful going into new areas. Half of this is by design and the other half may make players feel like an area is too easy because of all the upgrades their cult gave them.

-The different gameplay styles work surprisingly well together. Going off on a crusade and returning with materials for your cult, more cultist, ect, makes the experience rewarding as you watch not only your cult grow, but your own power as well.

-The art is very cute, but still captures the occult atmosphere very well. In late game though, I ended up having to turn my graphics down from high to low because my cult grew very large. I am unaware if this is a issue others experience in the late game, but it made returning to the cult a struggle for my PC.

-The game has a feeling akin to The Binding of Isaac, but if you buy the game just for going room to room and fighting you will be disappointed, which is where I see a lot of criticism for the game. The game has it's own merits and should not be treated as if it was a new Isaac game.

-Many of the new starting equipment you unlock (fleeces) have good upsides and serious downsides, with some exceptions. By the time you are halfway through the game you will likely have the ones you want and won't care so much for the others. If you do want to end up challenging yourself though without turning the difficulty up, changing your fleece can change how you play dramatically. Unlocking all of them could also be done during the main game or after it and if you decide to wait until after the main game, there will be much more for you to do.

-Overall I would recommend this to people who like Rouge-lites and people who are more into the relaxed gaming style that games like Animal Crossing promote. Since the game caters to, but doesn't fully jump into, either of these styles, that may turn some people off, but I suggest playing it until, at least, killing the second bishop before really forming a opinion about the game.

After playing the game for little while I can think I can outline what the average person may want to know:

PROS:
1. They clearly did their research, the game uses a lot of Lovecraft elements and does so well while respecting the source material to make a good game that really does a good job at showing the player the scale of comic horror.
2. The small cutscenes that can be found scattered around the game also add greatly to the style and setting of the game. I do not know who did the art or work for the cutscenes but they did a wonderful job.
3. The game is difficult, but true to any rougelike, you increase your odds each death you have through upgrades. If you played and enjoyed Dead Cells, this game will certainly scratch that itch for you.

CONS:
1.Sometimes it is a bit difficult to tell exactly where you are or what you're looking at. In an artistic sense this makes sense for the comic horror theme the game goes for, but other times it can get you killed.
2. In this game, sometimes you will break appendages off enemies and be pinned by them. After a short time the appendages no longer collide with the player but it takes far too long personally. This pinning can get you unfairly killed if you play certain cultist where dashing can be dangerous, such as the pyromancer.
3. Some bosses are far easier than others, to unlock one of the cultist you have to fight a very powerful boss that, arguably, is on the same level of difficulty as the final boss. You fight this boss in Act 2 and not even at the end of Act 2 either. Meanwhile the unlock for the other cultist in Act 2 is very easy.

All in all I recommend this game for those who like a challenge and are fans of the Lovecraft aesthetic.

The game has been polished up since I played the original. Things feel much more organic to play with. It feels like they also made the optional challenges quite a bit more difficult. Skin unlockables are also a nice treat for those who like to get those. I also have a lower end PC and the game ran pretty well. There are a few hiccups I've experienced but that's likely due to my rig. All in all a good remaster to a cult classic.

Early Access Review
Good game. I'd recommend it to people who like Breath of the Wild or Shadow of the Colossus. The difficulty is fun with having to take care of warmth, food, and sleep. It's not quite finished yet, but I recommend it.

I have beaten the game and think I have a good enough understanding of it to judge it fairly. To be to the point I'll break the game down into it's pros and cons.

Pros:
-Interesting story.
-Challenging gameplay.
-Graphical settings for lower end PCs.
-Death increases difficulty, adding challenge
-Choices that matter and will impact how you progress

Cons:
-Game has a tendency to stutter, even on higher end PCs. I talked with someone else who owns the game and they also experience this stuttering, even on the lower settings.
-The story is sometimes difficult to follow, though I don't personally mind this it may be confusing to those who prefer a more straightforward experience.

I played this way back on Xbox 360 when it first came out. It was good then, and it's good now. Would recommend to anyone who played it before and those who are new. The experience is still worth your time, and always, Remember Reach.

It's time to speak to the systems Valve actually watches. Thumb down this game until Valve takes action against the bots ruining every casual match.

I finished the game the other day and can honestly say, if you enjoyed any of the older Paper Mario games, you'll enjoy this. The devs really hit the nail on the head with this one. It has an interesting story, NPC's to talk to that change as the game goes on, goofy stuff, and great combat. I highly recommend if you want a game to scratch that itch.

**Non-VR review**

I owned the game during the early steps of the development process and I enjoyed it very much my first time and second. Extensive lore for world building really gets the curious person sucked into the world for wanting to find out what exactly is going on. The survival element adds to the overall depth of the game as you are constantly reminded that you should be focusing on survival instead of poking around but you end up not being able to resist yourself. You will get lost and frustrated sometimes, but that is just part of it. Overall great experiance for a non VR user.
