Game is just a relaunch of Life is Feudal MMO with all of the same issues and nothing having been fixed or improved.

I'm surprised Steam even allowed this.

The game seems fine, but it's really more of a concept piece for what might be an actual game in the future. Think of it like a very large battle royal setup where you also farm zombies to level up your skills. That's basically the game in a nutshell.

They have tons of plans for future features, but none of them were in at release beyond crafting, limited mobs, rudimentary taming, and open world PVP that exists for no reason other than taking gear bags. (No territory control, no war mechanics, nothing, just random fights for gear bags).

The game loop is basically this. You fight zombies. You put on gear. You go fight. You maybe lose, you maybe win. You rinse. You repeat. That's the entire game as it exists right now.

It's an interesting concept piece that may one day turn into an actual game if this very small team lives up to its many promises.

Oh, and right now, MOST players sit in queue for 2 - 5 hours, the queue crashes, and they start over (they said they put in a fix for this, but as of today, I have confirmed this fix DID NOT WORK).

There are countless people right now who have 30+ hours of "gameplay", with 25 of those sitting in queue, and this team is still selling copies of the game to players who it can't actually provide gameplay access to.

I'll update this review as these issues are fixed.

Very fun game minus the initial launch server issues. Once the server issues are resolved this is going to be a gem.

Edited: Server issues were resolved within a few days and the game runs very smooth. I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys open world survival games with an emphasis on building/manning ships in warfare and directional skill-based melee PVP.

Came back after the most recent update "New Foundations". The game still runs like hot garbage. I get 60+ frames on "ultra settings" and the wildlife (of which there is very little in the entire game) and other players (of which there are also very few) still glitch around randomly a lot of the time. You still die for seemingly no reason due to random odd collison issues. You still glitch around while your ship is in motion sometimes causing you to fall to your death for no reason.

I'm running a high end gaming machine and a connection at 120mbs+ and I'm centrally located in the United States.

This is a game performance issue. All three of my other friends who started with me won't even touch this anymore after just a few days of dealing with these issues.

The makings of an awesome game that may one day come into existence are still here so I'm sure I will be back in the future to see how things are going.

For now however, unless you just want to fund a project that may or may not ever actually improve, you might want to skip this one.

I have 900 hours on Ark. Needless to say, I've played a little bit.

The game is a great game. Sadly, now that it is going pay-to-win, I can't recommend it. Now, in order to get access to all of the dinos, and their abilities, you have to pay an extra fee to the developers or you get left behind by the people you are playing against/with.

I can't support a pay-to-win game and I do not believe anyone else should either.

The developers should be ashamed of themselves for squandering what was up until the Scorched Earth pay-to-win DLC the appeciation and positive review status of their community.

The worst part is, they don't even seem to care. All they care about is the money by releasing a pay-to-win system into their game that is still in basic alpha.

900 hours into a game I stuck with because it had such great potential only to see the development team turn into complete douchebags.

How sad.

I believe the community deserves an apology, the Scorched Earth DLC should be changed over to free, and everyone who paid for it already should get refunds.

Anything short of that and this game is going to kill its self before it ever gets out of alpha, which is unfortunate, since the game is fine, but the development team is about to kill themselves out of stupidity.
