Compared to most games that claim they're Soulsborne. Lies of P takes the torch and runs way out ahead. Given how successful the game has been, it slipped my radar until a month ago. Having my doubts in the first couple of sections, this was completely unfounded. Taking it's time to really build out the mechanics and explain them in detail. Halfway through, most mechanics become well-rounded and distinguished. NEOWIZ had some vastly unique elements that seamlessly blended together. Some of these are more heavily weighted than others, but you may not realize it until you hit a difficulty spike. One such game fundamental P-Organs are far more heavily weighted than I expected. This one element nearly derailed my run of the game. However, you can reset these attributes and readjust them as needed. The level design was creative and engaging the entire time. Harkening back to Dark Souls and Bloodborne each level twisting back on itself with shortcuts in between. Joined together with a surprising amount of detail. You'll start to realize how masterfully this game is put together. Boss fights are genuinely engaging, satisfying, and innovative with attack patterns. However, as a souls veteran of these games. A handful of bosses are extremely tough and will take multiple hours of attempts to complete. With the exception of one which I consider unfair I.E. "Git Gud". Adjusting my attributes, weapons, throwables, legion arms, handles, and play styles I could not overcome. All things considered, it'll try anyone's patience even though it's shown as an optional boss. Personally, I'd enjoy it more if it wasn't blocking one of the endings but so be it. If you're a fan of any soulsbourne game this is an absolute must for you. Highly enjoyed it once I got the hang of each mechanic. Can't wait to see what NEOWIZ does next! 80/100
