9/2/24 edit: realized it lets you make a dummy epic account that's linked to your steam account so that's less of an issue than I thought. However what is an issue is that the multiplayer pretty much just doesn't work at all. The enemies and other players are in completely different places for each player, so while I'm playing I'll just see everyone else teleporting around and firing random directions while enemies nowhere near them die randomly. This also results in very easily accidentally shooting the other players. The game is basically unplayable like this.
