It's disco baby, go be a Hobo Cop!

I got this game for free and still feel like I overpaid for it. There isn't much of a game here you just put some units on a map and watch them fight. Epic Battle Simulator is fun for a few hours but that's about it. I feel bad for anybody that paid money for this thing.

Refraction is a good visual novel with an interesting story line and a unique art style. The game has multiple endings and branching pathways throughout the game. This visual novel didn't contain any voice acting and while that wasn't an issue for me I know some players are picky about that sort of thing so I figured I would mention it. The game has icons at the bottom of the screen for saving loading and that sort of thing that initially had me confused but fortunately there is a help section that will tell you what the buttons do. I'm a bit surprised this game hasn't gotten more attention. Hopefully people will read this review and give the game a chance like I did.

A modern take on the classic text adventure formula The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker allows you to interact with the characters in the story by typing in questions and statements. Normally this process works great except for the rare occasion where my phrasing or poor spelling caused the game to not recognize what I was trying to ask. Overall though this game was a very enjoyable experience with quality actors and a creepy atmosphere. Also I really like the couch. Great game!

The background is dark, the story is incoherent and the game play got to the point where it consisted of a multitude of locked doors and interact-able objects that I had to click on in order to either get the door to unlock on its own or uncover a key to unlock it manually. The story may have been going somewhere but I didn't find it compelling enough to find out if it was anywhere worthwhile. There are some jump scares for people interested in that sort of thing. I feel bad about reviewing the game before reaching the end but this one just isn't for me.

First off I just want to mention how awesome I think it is that this developer is still supporting this game with updates and bug fixes despite the fact that it came out in 2015. It obvious that they care a lot about this game and I think that's reflected in the review score and high metacritic rating.. Heck this game has its own discord and won an award apparently. Despite all of these positive things I didn't like the game.

Let me tell you a little bit about my game play experience. I'm hanging out doing whatever it is English servants do and here comes my boss with this idea to go around the world. It would be a pretty boring game if I said no forget it so off we went! We had some adventures and before long I wandered into a market in some city who knows where and I notice that the description seems to suggest I can buy this here item and then sell it somewhere else for more money, That sounded like a lot of work so I figured forget it - boss man is loaded he has this stuff covered. He wouldn't have suggested we take this trip if he couldn't afford it right? RIGHT?! I think you all know where this is going. First the boss took out a loan and then another one and before long we ended up destitute and pennyless in New York City. The game never did end I just eventually had to turn it off because there was no way to progress any further with the story.

Also I couldn't figure out how to see how much money I had or how much I was spending for a hotel room or other random things. I just had some and then it was gone. Apparently "every play through is different" but I had enough after one and will probably never touch this game again.

Eldritch University is a fun visual novel. I didn't like it as much as Eldritch Academy, but I still thought it was a super good read overall. This game also sets up the possibility of a sequel. Eldritch Investigations anyone? :D

This is my first Persona game and it's amazing. I love the art style, music and player customization available in Persona 4. I don't think it's possible to see everything this game has to offer in just one play through. There is a ton of content. I hope ATLUS considers porting more of their games (Persona 5!) over to steam. I still can't believe I only had to pay $20 bucks for this game!

Train of afterlife runs in adobe flash and doesn't like to run in full screen mode (at least not for me) so I already knew I was going to be in for a questionable experience before it even really got going. The game takes place on a train after the main characters death. You can walk around the train, you can talk to people, you can look out the window.

Eventually you are able to remember some things that happened while you were still alive. The key to playing this game seems to be to remember these memories in a particular order with no clues that I could find on how to do that. These memories are also way less interesting than what's going on aboard the ghost train. Also apparently I looked out the window one too many times and got sent to hell. So yeah, not playing this thing again.

This visual novel has decent voice acting, good looking art and a story that may turn out to be compelling if you get to experience it. So why did I give it a negative review? The damn maze mini game! This game forces you to play a maze game in order to progress the story. It isn't skipable, I was unable to complete the 3rd one and I died. If I wanted to play a maze game I would have bought a maze game. Heck the first time I didn't even have a keyboard handy since I was playing from my couch. I wont be revisiting this game unless they let you skip the mazes in a later patch.
