I'm not a professional reviewer, nor do I probably have as many hours as the other reviewers, I can say however that I spend more time in this game than the average player. With my experience since I purchased the game back in January 2021, I simply CANNOT recommend you buy this game AT FULL PRICE OF $40. Not only does it go for 50% off basically every weekend, so there's really no reason to buy it full price anyway, but there are some things that are too problematic for me to really say you should buy it (at full price.) The game isn't a AAA title so it doesn't have the best servers, though the devs say they are working on them frequently, and at the current time there is an update in test server to improve servers and matchmaking, if I recall correctly, so maybe they will greatly improve who knows. There is also the problem of rubberbanding and teleporting when interacting with some terrain. You will sometimes get too close to an edge, the biggest example for me at the fort, and you will stay above in your view, even be able to walk back, only to take damage and be teleported to the bottom. Those are the main reasons I cannot say you should purchase this game at the full price of $40, it does not seem worth it to me, the frequent 50% off price of $20 however, is a big thumbs up from me, and I say go for it if you want a fun, fresh, unique experience of a competitive shooter. 600 hours of gameplay later, 1 year after I first started this game, the same problems still present themselves. The desyncing and teleporting down ledges to take damage are still very much a thing that causes me to die time and time again. But now there is the problem of what the gameplay has become for 90% of matches I endure. Camping is the most prominent thing about this game you will see, with everyone using a shotgun while not moving a single step as to not give away their position. While you could argue it's a viable strategy, The hour long match timers is simply too enabling of these players to freely play this way. I thought the game would only become more fun as time went on, but the camping being more prominent has only made it more and more of a battle of boredom and attrition to see if you want to walk face first into the shotgun user or not so that you can just move on to the next match. I sincerely hope the hunt dev team goes back to a more skillful game that I first started playing instead of the camping and spam weapon meta. Especially since I bought all their dlc and some merch, cause it is one of my favorite games.
