As others have said, its a big step down from old Bethesda games. "A mile wide but an inch deep" is a pretty good explanation.
But if you ignore that, theres still quite a lot of interesting or fun things to do, but alot of them are pointless despite being fun.
Like grinding credits to build a spaceship, only to realize that it was all pointless since all enemy ships are weak and you kill them within 3 seconds and you have no need whatsoever for all the different habs (like the brig)
Building outposts are also fun and takes quite a lot of time to make it efficient, but you wont really earn any credits from it and the xp you _can_ get feels like a rather tedious exploit.
There are some fun and interesting quests but they are pretty few and far between. They would be ok-ish as the once in a while side quest, but not when all of them are rather bland.
Some bases and ships have interesting lore and story to them, but they are only a dozen or so and youll quickly run into the same stuff over and over.
Exploration isnt all that interesting either because of the previous point, and most planets doesnt provide any reason to land at all. Ofcourse, space is big and empty, but still, they could have thought of something atleast.
7/10 imo, i think the will do a cyberpunk and make it good after a while. You can still buy it now and have fun, but you wouldnt miss out if you wait for more content.

I love this game, GOTY for me.
the only complaint i have is that the quests locations dont have any map markers and they seem to have the most random ass locations so ive had to look up the locations online alot.
I feel like this game misses some longer story oriented quests to make the exploring feel meaningfull, im aware of the games goal and the pre-game lore but there isnt alot of story material to keep the exploration interesting. youll stumble upon the random npcs that give you short quests but it doesnt feel like it give you alot to fight for.
My biggest complaint used to be the multiplayer aspect, and while the coop has gotten better, its still ridled with bad latency during pvp and random disconnects and connection errors.

great story, beautiful graphics and the controls felt natural. the only thing that felt kinda wonky was when you were driving that rover around.
finished it 4,9 hours, so the story was on the shorter side but still entertaining and interesting.

One of the best games ive ever played, the split creen coop was something ive never seen before and it worked fabulously. Amazing story, really impactfull choices and great replayability.
Its a 10/10 for me. the only downside is that you need a friend to play it, but if you have one, its the best coop story game out there in my opinion.

good game overall. original story thats quite intriguing. building anything more than a storage box and a bed feels unnecessary but its pretty fun. however some furniture has some CRAZY material demands like 4 deer pelts, 200 sticks and the blood of a virgin for a single chair...

Losing many hours of progress multiplte times due to corrupt saves or not saving at all, despite saving 5 times in a row before quitting. And even if the map progress actually saves, the inventory rarely(if ever) saves all your items despite you sleeping and saving on a correct savepoint. Ive had my inventory completely wiped so many times.

Good game has gone unplayable unless you like torturing yourself

(I have over 20 hours of gameplay on my other account and this is not a rare occurance)

Fantastic game, just buy it honestly. its one of those game you must try atleast once.

The only bad experince ive has is that my friend had some syncronisation problems with cloud saves that eventually ended with our world being reverted to a very old save, and sometimes characters save files save in the bin for some strange reason, but deleting them doesnt affect anything.

Im dissapointed, not at all what i was excpecting. Here are the biggest negatives IMO:

Extremely poorly optimized.
Im running it on a 3600x and RTX 2060. At max settings, i can only reach 45 fps on ARK while on Battlefield V at max settings i get over 140fps... Ark looks nice, but its years behind BFV and the FPS difference is laughable.

No tutorial at all.
Youll wander around for hours just dying because the game doesnt tell you anything. The fact that the UI and inventory/crafting hud is very confusing and cluttered doent help either.

Worse servers than EA.
Eventhough im normally enjoying a solid 10 ping on most online games, no servers on ark offer me below 70 ping. And while 70 ping isnt bad, its the EXTREME server lag that really pisses me off. About every 15 minutes basically everything stops and then reverts 10 seconds because of the lag. I cant even count how many times ive died to this stupidly annoying bug.

I dont recommend buying. But if you HAVE TO, buy it on atleast a 50% discount.
