Nice retro-style shoot-em-up (shmup) with a twist.

In this game the levels consist of colored monsters that just sit there, and when you shoot them they turn into gems to collect. But some of them turn light blue and are indestructable. There are other obstacles like rocks and moving enemies to avoid or kill. Making your way through the maze is difficult. There are dead ends and if you choose the wrong path, the screen is slowly scrolling down and you can be trapped. Each time it is randomly generated, so don't bother trying to memorize. Collect gems but don't take too much time trying to get them all or you will get trapped! Some enemies drop special icons that you use to upgrade your ship. Also one enemy in the bunch will drop the Emerald that you need to get

The thing I love about this game is that even if you die you keep all the stuff you collected! That's right up my alley because I'm not that good at these games. Use the gems to buy new ships and upgrade the defense, attack, and speed of your chosen ship. Some ships come with special benefits that are useful on certain planets.

Each planet has the gem collect level and then a boss section. The boss is typical bullet hell, though not as bad as some I've seen. When you finish a boss new ships are unlocked for purchase. You can do the planets in any order.

Graphics: Nice pixel graphics. I like how they have the different colored layers in the tunnel to make it look like 3D. The sprites are cute.

Sound: There is a narrator in the beginning intro scene and at the start of each level he says something. You can turn him off if you don't want to listen to it. The normal pew-pew sounds and background music that sounds retro.

Controller worked fine for me. I used an Xbox controller on Windows 7 PC.

Final Thoughts: Might be a little too easy for a pro shmupper, but nice for us regular folks. It's cheap! Nice to see a dev that doesn't over-price their games.

Fun ball shooter.

I played a lot of this on Desura, so my Steam time is misleading.

This is a ball shooter game with a twist. There's phyiscs that affects how the balls move. Sometimes that ends up in your favor as a dangling trail of balls will swing back and forth and might attach to others which will activate them and make them explode. Other times the physics is a hindrance when a dangling trail swings by at the wrong moment and grabs the ball you intended to go elsewhere.

There's an upgrade tree that you spend points on. Get points by finishing a level in under a certain amount of balls spent. You can replay levels any time as much as you want.

3 Bonuses: Wild, Bomb, and Rocket. Each time you make a match it starts to power up your bonus meter. Once it is full you can choose a bonus to use.

This is a slower paced ball shooter than others I've played. I find the emphasis to be more on strategy, especially if you want to use as few balls as possible to get the 3 star rating. And sometimes you can waste a ball if you don't wait for the ones you just shot to fall because your new ball might attach to the falling ones.

There's no story, just fun arcade ball shooting.

Music is nice. I like it.

Graphics are okay. I'm not picky about graphics, though.

I find myself having to force myself to quit. "Just one more level!"

It does not disappoint. If you played 10,000,000 and liked it, then you MUST get this game and you MUST BUILD A BOAT!!!

New features I've seen so far (I haven't completed the game yet):

New Tiles: Thought Power and Muscles - accumulate them to recruit monsters to fight for you and give you bonuses!

Random Dungeon Types: Some have harder enemies, some have more loot, some have fog on the bottom of the screen so it's hard to see.

Instead of building rooms and upgrading them like in 10,000,000, in this game you gain friends along your journey who will upgrade your weapons and armor. Your boat gets bigger and bigger as you gain more NPCs.

You get random loot and can sell it for money.

Graphics are upgraded but still pixel-based. Just not as harsh pixely as in the last game.

Music is nice. I think. I'm so busy trying to make matches fast that I don't pay much attention to the music!

Price is cheap! I would pay more for this game, it's that good. In fact, owners of 10,000,000 were promised a free key but I didn't even bother emailing the developer, I just bought it instantly as soon as it came out.

Sparkle 2 is an enjoyable addition to the Luxor/Zuma type of match 3 game.

A line of different colored balls slowly creeps forward and you have to shoot balls to match 3 or more to make them disappear. If they reach the end of the line before you get rid of them all, it's game over (though I'm assuming you can keep trying after failing). It's in the Puzzle category, but it's acutally an action puzzle rather than turn-based or one that just sits there while you decide what move to make. In this game you have to think fast and have good reflexes sometimes.

Occasionally you get power-ups that will help you. Fireballs that destroy balls. Color Match that makes several balls all the same color. There are ones that slow the train or make it go backwards for a short time.

There are also equipable power-ups that you can choose once you've unlocked them. Such as unlimited swap of whatever colored ball is currently next in line to shoot. Or every 10th ball you get is a fireball. You can try out the equipables and customize the way you want to play the game.

There is a main story with a path that you follow, but there are also other game modes that you unlock along the way.

Graphics are nice. I especially like the details on the balls (no jokes please). They aren't just a solid color, there is a pattern to them that is nice.

Music is very nice. To me it has a sort of fairytale classical style. Kind of hard for me to describe. It sets the mood perfectly for a jaunt through the creepy forest.

I haven't finished the main story yet. I might be halfway through, going on the equipable power-ups that I have yet to unlock, but I'm not sure, and I've played almost 3 hours according to Steam. And I haven't played the other modes yet, either.

Fun. Retro. Auto-runner platformer. Nice music.

You have been trapped in a dungeon and have to escape. Once you start each level it runs automatically and you just have to time your jumps. Sound easy? Um, yeah, it's not. Especially with spikes, fireballs, acid, bounce pads, small platforms, and who knows what else in the levels I haven't gotten to yet.

So it's not a traditional platformer where you have total control of your dude. In this game you can only jump. Also, each level is separate. It's not like a huge ongoing maze. There are no enemies (at least not yet) and you don't have any weapons.

This game surprised me. Normally I don't like hard platformers, but with this one I don't have to control the movement of my dude, I just have to time the jumps. So it takes out part of the platforming headache for me.

Graphics are retro-inspired pixel, which is something that I love dearly.

Music is very nice. And each time you die the music just continues, it doesn't stop and start each time you start the level.

I don't know how long the game is yet. But I've seen enough to give my approval. Plus, it's cheap!

You play as an Indiana Jones wannabe, complete with whip and gun, exploring underneath a pyramid. The people have been captured by some bad guy who stole all the relics. Jump, roll, and use weapon are your abilities.

When you find a relic you have to take it to a pedestal and it opens up new areas, but there's no way to tell which relic is supposed to go on which pedestal so there's lots of backtracking and trial and error. The gems and coins you collect don't seem to do anything, just add to your score. You lose them when you die but other than that there's no penalty for dying, you can restart your progress in the same room. The good things is you don't lose any keys or special items when you die.

The enemies always reappear in the same room even if you've killed them, so watch out. There are simple puzzles such as switches that need to be hit. Early on the enemies will die with one hit but later on they take more hits to die. There are mummies, spiders, bats, and other such creatures. You can't kill anything underwater so just avoid the jellyfish.

There's no life meter--you die if hit once. But thankfully there is no fall damage, you can fall at any height.

I've been playing for 2 hours and it says I'm 40% of the way through, so the game is probably pretty short, unless the later areas are tougher.

Graphics are cute, cartoon, pixel style. Very colorful.

Sound effects are okay, but I didn't hear any background music except for the opening screen.

I like this game so far. It's fairly easy, and I find it fun to collect the gems and coins. People who like more difficult metroidvania games will probably be bored.

UPDATE: I spoke too soon about it being a short game. I'm another hour or two in and only 49% now. Mostly I'm wandering around places I've already been trying to figure out how to open up new areas.

Short, easy, but fun! This game is a casual resource management strategy game. You start each level with one or two workers who travel on set pathways and gather resources. But they also use resources to clear debris and to build bulidings like a farm. In later levels you have to carefully choose from multiple pathways to start out otherwise you run out of resources. When there's a heavy boulder in your way you can call upon Hercules to get his lazy ass out of his hammock and heft the boulder out of the pathway. Some levels have other characters that help you out like Medusa (yes, she's an ally in this game, not an enemy!), Cerberus, Cyclops, and Pegasus.

The levels are timed but it only matters if you want to get all the achievements and get the gold rating on all levels. I found them very easy to complete in plenty of time for the gold rating. I only had to go back to redo a few levels to get gold.

There are some "boss" levels which consist of Hercules alternating shooting arrows at enemies and using his strength to move boulders out of the way or break chains. There is one really cool boss level where instead of fighting you have to gather specific ingredients to make a healing potion. There are fruits and colorful potions scattered about and it tells you which specific one you need each time.

The levels do not take much time to complete, a few minutes, so it scratches that itch for quick build management strategy when I don't want to take the time to play a long involved game.

Can't wait for the sequel!

Cute graphics
Turn-based
Random loot and heroes
Low starting health

Small Dungeon Floors--Short Game

This is a strategy rogue-like. I haven't played much but I like it so far. After seeing some of the negative reviews I feel I have to defend it a little bit because I think some people expect it to be something that it's not.

There's a lot more strategy than at first glance because all your characters move at the same time but they are on different spots on the grid. So if you move a wizard up to get him out of the way of a monster, you also move your barbarian or whatever other characters you have, and they might end up in danger. You have to really plan your moves if you want to get lots of loot and kill monsters. You could just rush straight for the exit and beat the game in no time if you prefer, but personally I'd rather get most if not all of the treasure first.

Each character has a special ability that can be activated if he has a potion (the blue bottle). It's a one-time use, so there's more strategy for you. So far I've had 3 different characters: and Archer (special ability is to shoot across in a straight line), Wizard (special ability is a magic attack diagonally only), and a Barbarian (I think he could beat a monster in one hit instead of two).

You start out with one character with low health. Each monster takes 2 hits to take down so you can lose health quickly. There are heart potions that you can grab to increase your health. You gain extra characters by finding them in levels and going up to them. But you can only choose one character per level, so if there are two available on that level the one you didn't choose with disappear.

There are also special items you can grab that do special things. I can't remember what they are called exactly, but they are like artefacts.

OH, and every time you open a treasure chest more monsters appear!

Just a quick review for those wondering if they should get it while it's on sale.

So far I am happy with my purchase and recommend it for fans of Match 3 games. This one kinda reminds me of 4 Elements because you match by clicking, holding down the mouse button, and dragging it through all the gems of the same color that are by each other. There are occasional hidden object puzzles where you have to find little pieces of an object that are scattered throughout a scene.

There is also some town building. You get gold after each match 3 level and use it to buy buildings. There is a choice of 3 different types of buildings with increasing cost. I don't know what that's all about yet. So far I've just been choosing the cheapest buildings. For instance, first you build a house and they give you 3 options of housing. The more expensive ones have more decoration. I don't know if they do anything else.

And of course there are power ups in the match 3 levels. There's a lightning icon that will destroy all the gems and things in a line, sometimes a straight line and sometimes diagonal. There's rope and stone blocks that need to be destroyed before more gems can fall. There's a wing icon that reveals hidden parts of the board. Gems and treasure chests that give you more gold!

I will update as I play more.

This is the Burger King of Match 3 games: you can have it your way. There are 3 different ways to play: Swap, Chain, or Pop. Swap is the traditional match 3, as in Bejeweled, where you click on a tile, then click on a second tile to swap them and make a match. Chain is like in Tidalis, where you use the mouse to create a path of the same type of tile and then clear them. Pop is similar to Season Match, click on groups of 3 or more matching tiles to clear them. Personally I prefer Swap.

There is also 2 different modes. Challenge mode gives you a set number of moves to finish the level. Casual gives you no limit.

The graphics are decent. Nice backgrounds of Japanese scenery--both day and nighttime scenes. Let's face it, you're probably not playing this game for the cutting edge graphics, so what do you expect?!

The background music get boring after awhile. But again, are you really playing a puzzle game for great sound? Sure it would be nice but it's not essential.

The story is bare bones, but they keep it interesting by having you purchase buildings for your village. The buildings do not do anything, but it makes it seem like you are making progress rather than just playing for no reason.

I highly recommend this for match 3 lovers. You can play whatever style you prefer.
