The game constantly crashes and punishes you for leaving matches early, and several features from the beta have been removed like being able to try characters in training mode before buying them

On the plus side this release has given multiple characters TOD combos which is the sort of jank I've been missing in modern platform fighters

This game has a certain atmosphere to it that I haven't ever felt before, and I love it. It's short, free, and an experience I really recommend.

The game is auto-scrolling, and you can double-jump three times before touching the ground again. All of your jumps are incredibly short, but I feel like that somehow adds to the atmosphere? I really don't know how to explain it. Also, every time you die there's a brief pause before you can restart, during which the music cuts, howling wind slowly picks up, and a very light layer of static covers the screen. It's a bit unsettling, but super neat as well.

I tried writing a bit about all the things I like about this game, but honestly, everything just comes together beautifully.

Good game. Short game. Small file size, so short download too. Try it out.

P.S. I should note that it set off my antivirus because it's a "rare file", but that's probably just because it's brand new.

The only reason I'm playing this game is for the Pyro hat. I only have this much time in because of it.

I honestly hate this game. The voice acting, the gameplay, the graphics, the music... everything. Even the loading screens.

Okay, now I understand some people love it, and the creators put a lot of work into it. You go, creators. HOWEVER, that does not change my recommendation or my opinion.

This game tries to be new and revolutionary, and the concept isn't bad, but the execution sucked.

If you think you might like this game for what it is instead of a way to get two hats, hear me out. I thought I was going to enjoy it too. But this is just... Not enjoyable. It's boring, the music and sound effects are annoying, and don't get me started with the announcer. I'm just chugging through it because the pyro hat is really friggin awesome.

Considering everything, this game is very nice. I managed to make 200 of the in-game currency within the first few hours of playing, and I don't understand people complaining about how hard it is to get them. Besides this, the game is very solid. Crafting can be a little confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it's good. You can build quite a lot with what you can get within a few minutes. The water and ice mechanics are nice, jumping feels great, and the sound effects are beyond satisfying! Building is a LOT easier than in 8bit mmo, and you can rotate the camera to get a new perspective on things. The graphics are also nice, and it runs incredibly smoothly. I'll run down a list of pros and cons for you real quick in case you don't wanna read all of this.

PROS:
Great controls
Crisp Graphics
Fun to build things
Water physics are awesome
Ice physics are awesome
Satisfying sound effects
Insanely fast download
Runs very smoothly
Fun to gather things
Farming is actually fun
You can visit other realms freely
Player-made shops
It's just fun to play

CONS:
Connectivity issues
People can steal ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL
Getting cubits can sometimes take a while
Getting rare resources such as gold is incredibly difficult
There are some glitches involving anvils

Early Access Review
The concept of 8BitMMO is great. A 100% player built world with combat and an infinite world? Sounds great, right?

The way it's executed, however, isn't as great.

Before I say anything else, I do /NOT/ believe that you need good graphics to make a good game. That being said, this games graphics are one of the major issues with this game. The majority of the tutorial is telling you what you're even looking at, for example how to distinguish an overpass from the floor below. I think this game would be MUCH better if it had depth. the way it is constructed makes it difficult to tell where you are in comparison to anything. When you go under something, it dissapears, but that leads to even more confusion when trying to navigate through someones building. Furthurmore, when attenpting to build, you must puild from north to south unless using slabs. Attempting to do otherwise causes you to place the block on top of the previously placed one. Trying to build roofs or multi-story buildings is a pain, and the game doesn't tell you how to place blocks in the air without building up untill after you've placed 30 blocks. This wouldn't be an issue, except for the fact that you need gold to buy blocks. In order to get gold, you need to kill enemies, which is a good concept, but as with the rest of the game, is poorly done. The combat in this game consists of either jabbing a super-close ranged sword at the enemy, or using a pixel pistol to shoot the foes down. Aiming properly is difficult, and even if you use the swords, combat is extremely bland and difficult.

There are so many things wrong with this game, the few things it does right are not enough to counter them. Like I said before, the concept is great, but I do not recommend this game.
