I only recommend this game as a meantime game while we wait for an FPS title to be released that doesn't follow obnoxious and exploitative trends.

Apex Legends is easily one of the most demanding first person shooters available. As a player you need to be operating at your pinnacle peak performance at every second. Game sense, tracking, aim and mechanical dexterity must be top tier.

This game has one of the most innovative ping systems that basically allows a squad to communicate, navigate and time their actions without using voice chat. Something a lot us who share anxiety disorders, or like myself, are not in their twenties anymore, appreciate very much. Solo queue players occupy up to 80% or more of the total player population and the ping system fully accommodates them.

As with most multiplayer titles these days, innovation is trumped by administration.

The learning curve is steep and the moment you improve, matchmaking employed by the deepest bowels of market research will ensure that out of 300 games, you may enjoy a handful of these games at best.
(Google 'EOMM', enhanced optimized matchmaking and 'DDA', Dynamic difficulty adjustment.)
NOTE: Game devs categorically deny the existence of such policies but if you read up on these abysmal systems, you'll find that denial is "vital to the success" of such methods.
Is it a successful mm method? Far, far from it but as with all game devs of today, they have their foreheads glued to statistics that have no relevance to their customers experiences.
It's an awful system that keeps bad players bad and good players constantly frustrated.
It inarguably benefits game devs only.

You will be fed to co-ordinated stacks of the worlds best players no matter if playing in ranked or un-ranked playlists, while your team mates will need assistance to get dressed in the morning.
This is a constant and it never loosens up.

Servers run at 20hz tick rates despite it being A: 2022 and B: Respawn charging 18 euros for a single skin and 500 euros for a rare heirloom melee weapon skin.

The game is also plagued by poor quality audio design. Enemy footsteps are incredibly rare to hear while a bird farting 300 meters away is common place.
It will be no surprise for you to find that fixing these issues are not at all a priority.

The core of the game is good but falls victim to the morose stupidity, arrogance and nefarious nature of greedy and narrow minded game development.

Apex Legends is the perfect example of precisely where we are at in the gaming world of today.

This could truly be a great game that would serve very well as a hobby, however the developers at Bungie are not focused enough to make this a reality. The disconnect from their craft and what makes this game playable has become totally lost.

Game maintenance, updates, patches, bug fixes and action taken against cheating is close to non existent. Essential updates occur every 4 to 6 months, some fixes have taken over a year.
If Bungie could put the same efforts into the after sale as the pre sale, this game would suffer far less player frustration, sharp population drop offs and constant bad press.
