I love RDR2, but cannot recommend Red Dead Online.

My biggest gripe is that Rockstar watered down NPC dialogue to the point that it's non-existent. Taunts and greetings elicit lukewarm responses, law enforcement operates on a "shoot first, ask questions later" policy for the most minor of infractions (instead of giving you an option to turn yourself in on single player). The world is full of banks and shops that cannot be robbed along with beautiful ranches that cannot be bought. This watered down form of game-play makes the world feel boring and empty.

My second gripe involves the amount of grinding necessary to unlock certain game modes (such as Bounty Hunter). I need 15 gold bars to unlock the Bounty Hunter game mode. Each daily challenge nets you, what, 0.1 gold bars? Sure, you can complete all the daily challenges and get a multi-day streak that temporarily increases the amount, but then you're looking at essentially grinding for hours every day in the hopes of one day being able to unlock a simple game mode. Rockstar's online micro-transaction business model has ruined the fun of this game.

I can (kind of) respect the unique spin the creators put forth in this game. However, after about 30 minutes of playing some of the various scenarios I quickly learned that I wasted $15.

The first 10 minutes were a lot of fun. I decided to ignore the narrator's requests; the game eventually restarted me at the beginning. So I decided to make some different decision, which led me to another location where I inevitably ended up starting right back at the beginning again. The entire game is an endless loop with no real ending. You can choose different paths, make different decisions. But in the end, you start over from scratch every time.

1/10. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone and I have no idea how it received such positive reviews. I really wish there was a way I could get a refund.
