Played NMRIH as a kid and have been super exited for this upcoming game.

This sequel takes the game into a new direction likely based on the popular extraction shooter genre from the more linear objective instanced game play of the previous game. With a large open map to explore and complete objectives for rewards and a character that increases in power the more games they survive.
least i can say is it an interesting concept.

Despite many other reviews posting about Bugs, i have yet to find a game breaking one, the melee combat in the game is fairly similar to the previous although the players range and zombies range feels like 25-50% bigger, this along with zombie animations being janky leads to situations where you feel like you did not visually get hit but took damage. zombies tend to glitch when vaulting or climbing through rails for example.

Pros
Stealth, melee and resource managment gameplay from the original seems to be intact and fun
starting solo encourages the above and the enjoyment of finding other survivors is nice
Gunplay is decent, headshots with rifles and shotguns feel rewarding
explosives and other consumables add a good chunk of strategy
(put a prox mine down near a group of ~20 zombies and got out blowing up 90% of them to the amazement of my squad)
Movement through the environment so far has felt good
Cons
1 Map...
going from all the maps in NMRIH to just 1 is a big let down, although bigger it seems that all games will end with the same extraction process/area or death.
No K + Left click/Infection system RN
tanky zombies are a little annoying/ feel like it lacks consistency in zombies hp, idk if its a lag or hitreg issue or just normal zombies sometimes being twice as tankys.


all in all first 2 matches were fun, not sure about replay ability RN.
game is definitely not worth 30$ RN but anyone who buys it expecting that are delusional.
