a lazy comparison would be to say this game is tipping its cap in the direction of resident evil and silent hill.
maybe deadwood, too?
it plays well.
the mechanics feel good, control is nice.
there are plenty of areas to revisit when items have been acquired.

but...this really is a survival horror at heart.

resources are scarce, and there is a real sense of desperation, like you're just holding on by the skin of your teeth.
