If you are tired of copy-paste, low effort, wide as an ocean deep as a puddle forever stuck in early acces games, then search no more, Vagrus is exactly opposite. Setting is incredibly unique and well written, number of chocies and decisions you can make is astounding and a lot of them have long lasting effect and sometimes even really nasty consequences. Was it fun to raid small empire comitati and encampments for easy loot and slaves? Too bad, now you can`t enter imperial cities and your comitatus starves to death somewhere in the wasteland, loaded with untold riches. Tried to avoid paying road tax by walking offroad? Enjoy being eaten by pack of wild beast, or mounted as a trophy by a local orc warlord. World is harsh and cruel, but if you tread carefully and maybe even make some decent coin by trading, bounty hunting or hauling goods for various factions, you start to explore and venture deeper into the unknown. Lore and writing is absolutly amazing and the more you play, the more world opens, the more companions join your cause and quest become even more interesting. Your comitatus becomes more famous, and reputation brings interest from trading houses, religious officials and even crime syndicates. You can feel your progres like in no other game.

Gameplay is complex, but well explained so after playing amazing prologue wich serves as the tutorial you don`t really need to fight with game mechanics, only with harshness of the world. There are some glitches but nothing gamebreaking, and reloading mostly fixes everything.

Art direction is amazing, character and location designs are incredibly unique, and even roman inspired legionares or gladiators have special flavor added to them so they never feel generic.

Before buying this game I tried "free version" for some time so count my play time double or even triple for this review, but this game is made with so much passion and love that not buing it would be absolutly heretical. Now as a penance I will go back to trading marble between TorZag Shelter and Arken for couple more hours.

10/10 would die to Sand Wyrms again
