Early Access Review
So I've recently Just hit 200+ hours On DayZ Standalone and i thought i would write a review for the people who have not brought it yet so they can get a clear incite on what the game is about and the good and bad aspects of the game. Well to start off it is one of the best games i could have ever played it gives an experience like no other. Yeah it sounds very cliche i know but trust me there is no other survival game which plays out anything like this. When you spawn you will likely be on the coast of Chernarus. The Spawns are usually quite far from eachother meaning when you die you may well have a very different experience from your last life. Arguably the most important aspect of the game is trying to stay alive throughout the zombie apocalypse and trust me the game takes some ajusting, you may die a couple times getting to know how the game works and what is an effective method of survival. after that it's still not smooth sailing this game like no other keeps me on the edge of my seat at all times and thats what i adore about it. Zombies are a threat in this game and need to be dealt with carefully in this game without attracting too much attention to yourself. But these are not the biggest threat... People are. running into someone could easily result in death.

to be honest there is not that many friendly people in the game and thats why i would advise taking your time in high loot areas and being as careful as you possibly can. however without these people the game wouldn't be what it is today, sometimes exploring a town and then hearing loud gunshots makes the experience quite exhilirating.

this game has changed the way we look at survival games and i feel many survival new survival games base themselves of DayZ' core aspect of a Zombie apocalypse. The Best aspect for me by far in dayz standalone is you make the choices, you do what you want to do at all times. Want to go murder some people go for it! want to go explore the map and stay out of other peoples way and scavenge for food go ahead it's all in dayZ standalone. I've never played a game with som much freedom for the player. Do remember the game is in early access and there is a number of bugs in the game but hopefully that won't stop you from picking up a game that you can easily put hundreds of hours into.

Friends, Friends introduce a completely fresh new type of playstyle into the game (if you want to lone wolf go for it!) but my favorite moments in the game have been with others. don't get me wrong if you're both new to the game and you have no idea where anything is you will have to count on luck to find eachother. but once you learn where recognisable lanmarks and spawns are the game becomes alot easier to find eachother. many survival games do not support multiplayer and they're still great but with the implementaion of multiplayer it will change survival games for you. I've had experience where my friends and i have been shot at and we have mistaken our friend for the enemy. lets just say i may have lodged a 7.62mm round into his leg.

DayZ Standalone causes you to make the decisions and think fast. your life is constantly on the line in this game and your decisions will impact this significantly. People who play the game that there is two main roles (not that you have to play either) this it the Hero and the Bandit. Bandits usuallly kill on sight and will do almost anything to see a player dead or without loot. A hero is the opposite they avoid gunfights unless shot at. and will try and help out players in the land of chernarus. This role is like no other and just by giving someone food or water is rewarding in itself. however you don't have to play either of these roles. I understand that the game is not for everyone and i would advise looking at some videos of the game before buying it to see if you will enjoy it.

The Survival mechanics in this game are pretty weel dont (except for hunger imo) it's recently become alot more daunting and i have found my character gets hungry alot quicker. Whether you're hot & cold has been recently implemented and i like the system. running outside in the rain for hours on end will cause your character to become cold and they will eventually get hypothermia. A vehicle has finally been added after just about a year ( i know that sounds like a long time) for me getting to places on foot in your own time really increases your chances of survival and improves your chances of survival substantially.

And i pretty much have to cover this as the majority of negative comments are complaining how buggy the game is. for me it really isn't, it has its flaws like every other game. but bohemia have fixed zombie mapping amazingly meaning they won't for the most part run through walls. to be honest in its state at the moment it looks better optimised that assassins creed unity. haven't run into a hacker into a while which is nice, think they cleared up most of them. there is so much you can do in dayZ standalone and to be honest with 200 hours i have only explored maybe just over half of the map. i myself love running from town just surviving on whatever resorces i can find. The design of the standalone is very much different to the mod, i feel they have given it that grubby sort of overgrown look that a zombie apocalypse needs. if you want an experience where you can drive in cars and be continuously shot by 50.cal snipers go for the mod (in no way am i saying it's bad) finding guns is stupidly easy and pretty much just results in constant deathmatching in popular cities. DayZ however when you find a gun and then ammo it feels more rewarding.

to sum up this game is one of the best games i have played and i cannot wait to see what bohemia can do with it in the future, i hope my review has been helpful!
