One of my top rated games of all time, one of the few games I can play over and over and still love it like the first time. No modern revisionism within people's way of thinking or trying to make modern values within the protagonist seem enlightened within a sea of medieval morality, (no feminism, no atheism without seeming evil etc) I love the historical accuracy minus a few things. (No Crossbows, basic gunpowder weapons, not enough pole arm weaponry ect) but otherwise this is a very good game I cannot recommend this game enough

Very underrated total war game, very cool time period that most people do not appreciate. Probably one of the best total war for sieges, very in depth and well thought out. I guess people do not like this because it is relatively in the same time period as atilla and more specifically the age of charlemagne, however this is untrue.

The cavalry makes sense to be bad for this period. As it is late migration era and both the vikings and anglo saxons were not known for their horsemen.

A few things that I must add, I don't like how the anglo saxons seem to look distinct in appearance from the norse. They are both germanic people, anglo saxons definately had a large part of their populations as blondes and redheads.

More towards the gameplay, it does not make sense that the shield-wall is a defensive feature when a round shield is one of the most offensive shield that existed. You cannot move in shield wall. And things like the svinfylking was an example of an offensive shield wall.

Arma 3 minus walking simulator plus counter strike.

9/10.
