At first I thought this game was just a hub room of mini-activities but then I found out the rest of the main game was kind of hidden within the hub which is kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

But once you get to the main game it really picks up and is an amazing experience. Best of VR once again.

Whoever said that this season pass costs the same or more money than all the dlc in it combined needs to brush up on their maths.

But yeah this is hella pricey, the map and the character shouldn't even be separate.

Story doesn't have any likeable characters and enjoys being confusing with not much pay off.

Best part is just the feeling of climbing a mountain, and going on peaceful walks. Every message recieved is positive, and other players are constantly telling you push yourself. Good game to relax to, especially with the chill soundtrack.

Thought this was a singleplayer game until a couple hours into the game I stole a piano from an NPC and then it taught me how to cook and gave me a tour. What a surreal experience.

It has a high skill gap. With enough training you will be able to take on multiple enemies at once and kill them all. Pretty cool melee game.

Still being updated even though it's a single player experience, that's dedication and passion.

I played a lot of boneworks before this which made it hard to not compare the two. Visually Alyx is stunning, gameplay and technical aspects fall behind by a year or two.

Movement
You cannot run or climb without using teleportation. Walking is only achievable using the immersive movement option which utilises a mixture of teleport and joystick.

Melee
Not only can you not use your elbows and head as you could in boneworks. You cannot use fists or objects to fight enemies.

Ragdoll Enemies react to attacks with strict animations while they are alive instead of ragdolling. This could be to make the game harder as you cannot even slightly grab enemies as they will move around without reacting if not in a ragdoll state. In boneworks attacks to certain limbs will stop that limb from being used. If you shoot each section of the arm and hand enemies will not be able to attack you, if you shoot certain parts of the legs they will have a harder time walking or even stop being able to get up altogether. You can even push enemies; push them hard enough and they will go into a ragdoll state.

Physics
I don't know how hard it is to make collisions from my time in game development but even Boneworks had that one vase that you couldn't reach into. But still, much more physics objects are interactable in Boneworks than alyx and are more complex and fun to play around with.

Story
I haven't played the whole of Alyx yet so I can't comment much on the two but I'm writing this part to mainly let people know that, yes, Boneworks does have a story and so far the basic premise is more interesting than Alyx's story.

Overall Alyx feels alot more restricted gameplay-wise than Boneworks. Boneworks even told the player during the tutorial that the game is meant to be exploited and it gives you so much more freedom to solve things creatively. For example, you can use a crowbar to pull yourself up to higher places than you can normally get to. Much more half-life inspired physics puzzles too which is ironic.

But other than that it's great.
