WoW refugee here. My only advice for anyone trying out this game is the get through the base game story line because it gets really good after that. Do pay attention to some of the big event however as it will pay off later.

Systems are great, gameplay is rewarding and graphics amazing. It as a really fun gameplay loop as well.

Update: It gets better with each expansion you go through as well

Very fun and unique. The boys and I had a blast and return every large update.

it's good

Great with friends not so great alone. Missions get repetitive as they are the same thing over and over again but random events can give enough variety to gameplay to keep it entertaining for awhile.

Really amazing.

Despite playing the same missions over and over again there are many different factors that can make every round unique and end in disaster. For instance we went on one kill quest but we were infected by a quickly spreading flora infection that disabled our equipment and we had to stop it from spreading and remove it but the very next mission after that we were attacked by a reanimated sunken ship that harpooned us and filled us full of energy orbs that then proceeded to kill all of us. Tons of replay-ability and great moments.

Devs are always adding more and more content a couple times a year and the modding community has some great mods that can completely change the game. Once you get past understanding the mechanics its really easy to get the hang of.

Its ARK but an actually good game

Been playing Total War games since napoleon and gotta say this is probably the worst one I have played. Here is a list of pros and cons

Pros
- Diplomacy actually matters
- Map size and look is pretty good
- Historical figures are pretty accurate

Neutral
- The AI decisions change with difficulty and is actually pretty smart sometimes however there are still ways to cheese them

Cons
- Everybody's name sounds the same so its hard to manage diplomacy and know what certain events affect what factions
- Graphics look like a mobile game
- The general system is a little wonky and easy to cheese
- Army structure is dumb and makes building armies really annoying

Well done remaster of an already perfect game

As of writing this review I have just completed the main campaign on top of that finishing pretty much all of the branching side quests. I will be playing for other endings and starts and will update this review as I do.

I want to start off by saying I am not a very emotional person nor ever get super emotionally attached to things. However this game took me on a massive roller coaster and hit me with so much feels I felt genuine emotion which I have not felt in a very long time. I have played and completed over a hundred games in my lifetime and no game as made me feel so satisfied and so moved.

Feelings out of the way I am sure you want to hear an organized list of what is great and what is bad so here you go. Want to note that this is based on my playthrough that met the minimum requirements for the game. No other source was used in the making of this review

The Good

- The characters you meet have amazing depth to them. I have seen many complain about characters not having depth but these tend to be people who have not participated in their side quests which (I highly recommend actually doing). After doing them you realize how real these characters are by learning more about their motivations and past which makes every character different and unique. I do not think there was two characters that were the same and you can tell much thought was put in to define who each and everyone was. You will really get attached to many of the characters.

- The story is phenomenal. Won't say much more than that because the story hits so much better if you go in by yourself without spoilers or tips. Just brace yourself and have fun.

- The world is amazing. It overall looks amazing (If you support the hardware to show it) and the story behind it is well thought out and has massive depth. If you love learning about lore there is tons to be found here.

- The combat is really fun and very customizable with different builds having completely different play styles that all feel and play out amazingly. Obviously some builds are better than others min/max wise but nothing feels like you have to go one play style over others because of power imbalance.

- Choices really do matter. The game world around your character and your relationships with other characters change completely with every choice you make. This is so effective you actually have to think before you choose making your choices have meaningful weight behind them.

- Diversity is done well. Whether you think diversity is a good or a bad thing in videos games it is done well here. There are tons of races and cultures as well as gay and trans characters but they make sense in the established environment and the characters don't over rely on these traits to define their character. Nothing feels forced and no character shoves that fact that they are gay or trans down your throat during your playthrough which I personally have had issue with in many other games. You can tell CDPR focused more on making good characters over forcibly making them diverse which many games, shows, and movies have made the mistake of doing.

- Weapons are great, highly detailed, and feel amazing to use. There are many different kinds that all feel different and are better in different situations.

- Cars are cool and well designed. They feel and drive well.

The Bad

- Bugs. There are lots of them but non of them gamebreaking. Pretty much all of them were either dialog, animation, or vehicle pathing bugs but it did not take away from my experience enough to make me drop this games rating. CDPR has proven with the Witcher 3 that it can fix its bugs so most if not all will be patched out within the next year most likely.

- A lot of the minor side jobs are very samey and if you plan on grinding them out you will find this out pretty quick. On the flip side you are not required to do any of them if you do not want or just get bored of them. Only a couple of them give unique rewards which you can just look up to avoid the grind.

- The game is very demanding system wise and you can tell was meant for new gen consoles and graphics cards. In regards to the lower end graphics cards, if you do not follow some sort of performance settings guide you will have fps drops and the game will look sup par compared to many of the gameplay trailers. But if you do have the newer graphics cards you can make the game equal and or better looking then what you have been seeing in the trailers.

- The wanted system needs to be redone. If you get a wanted level police just spawn right on top of you and its pretty annoying especially when you accidentally killed a civilian or cop. You pretty much have to just run away until its gone because if you start killing the cops elite cops spawn that instakill you.

Conclusion

Overall this is a must try game that is great to finish off the crappy year of 2020 with. Once the bugs are fixed and a few systems are tweaked this game can officially earn the title of masterpiece in my books. If you are really unsure about trying it due to all the news about the bugs give it a few months then give it a spin. You will not regret it trust me.
