When I'm bored of scratching my back side and consuming lice off the scalps of my coworkers, I like to lean back, put my prehensile tail up, and play some good mind numbing bloon popping content.

A fantastic game. So many complex features which add and twist and move the game in a million different directions. Learning how to play the game is almost as fun as knowing how to play the game. I have over a hundred hours and I’m still learning things about this damn game. So many different options tucked away in little screens here and there. It’s wonderful exploring the galaxy and the UI at the same time.

Half the time I could hardly believe I was playing the same game. Absolutely, 100%, fantastic. If you like deckbuilders you will LOVE this game. It goes much much deeper than it seems originally.

i do like this game. The voice acting is great, the PDA's with character interactions are great, the interactions between the main character and AL-AN are great. The creatures look good, the zones look good, the music is amazing. But there are two major problems.
1) The above ground areas. Here, instead of worrying about oxygen, you worry about body temperature. Which is ultimately fine. The largest problems are that the above ground areas are a substantial part of the game, they're enormous. I've been just running around for about two hours. My fingers have been on W and Shift for so long. The automovement for walking is useless, because you auto-walk instead of auto-sprint. It just isn't as memorable up there as well, it's ice walls, ice caves, ice tunnels, ice ice ice. I had to backtrack so many times because it's all so samey.
2) Vehicles. THERE IS NO CYCLOPS. Which is an enormous bummer. Here I was waiting for whichever waypoint or alterra base would finally lead me to some of its fragments. Only to discover after 18 hours that it simply doesn't exist. I am going to continue on and beat the game, but knowing that i'll have to do it in my glorified sea moth saddens me.

I will say that I just kinda want to go back and play the first one now for the sole reason that it has the cyclops.

Originally I had a negative review. After another 10+ hours of gameplay, I'm changing my mind. Progression is quite fun and I love the hacking. I literally feel like a mage, throwing out shock, fire, and plague spells at my opponents, watching them burn from a safe vantage. Make no mistake, this game is extremely rough around the edges, sandpaper rough. Not only that, but I've had to reload several saves to fix audio and video bugs. Wait for this game to get several gigabyte sized patches before buying it.

It is insanely fun to build something, realize you didn't leave enough space to build that thing, also realize you need to pipe in a certain ingredient from 10 miles away, and then scramble to build that before biters destroy your base.

A hidden gem. The combat is 3-dimensional, fluid, intuitive. Ships look good, different classes are distinct. Major drawback is the small playerbase, so matchmaking can take a minute or two. But so worth it for a free game.

Sometimes I think that just because I play on master difficulty all the time, normal difficulty would be too easy. Then I go into a normal world and get bisected by a boulder because, surprise, Terraria is still a thoroughly challenging game. This game is fantastic, difficult, and it allows for some mindblowing creativity. Especially with Journey's End being out, house creativity is actively encouraged. Always buy this game. Good for solo and party play.

I will mention that party play through steam can be quite low quality, with teleporting mobs and players. This can sometimes be circumvented by using a private server on something like LogmeinHamachi.

A fantastic rougelike with amazing visuals, crazy hard gameplay, and unlimited replayability. Always play this game with a friend or two.

You'll consistently be invaded by people better than you, so when you finally beat someone, you feel like a god. Never let that godlike feeling go, PVP forever.
