I laughed at the Easter eggs and not-so-subtle nudges at the games of my youth, I cried at the later chapters and the genuine, honest growth seen in the characters. I was biting my nails if my love interest will love me back, and I saw my struggle with mental health portrayed in such an open, relatable way - which doesn't happen often in games.
At the end, when the game says "thanks for playing" I immediately thought "thanks for making this!" and "How come this isn't more popular!?"

(the ONLY negative thing was the somewhat repetitive music, which sometimes didn't fit the situation a 100%. BUT that is complaining on a very very high level)

its just not there yet. the later stages aren't well balanced, crops vanish every october, workers bring planks to a construction site and other workers take them away and bring them to yet another construction site... you can't stop the fletcher or blacksmith, if you need the resources for something else...
EDIT: the regular updates are impressive and the game gets better and better! i'm having fun!

After finishing the game at about 68 hours (still have to get some achievements though) I can honestly say this games is AMAZING! Although I had expected more dark humour and evil things to do, I have massively enjoyed the stories of the characters, farming and making the graveyard to a very chique place! Would defo recommend and buy more DLC for this!

Hi guys,

I have been playing this game non stop since yesterday, nearly ten hours now which would be a good point to write a review.

So, what keeps me playing this citybuilder? I think, first of all, the feeling that the developer put a ton of their time, blood and sweat into this. You can feel their dedication, when you play it and how much energy they have already put in it. It's not some generic citybuilder where everything is programmed to appeal to the biggest audience hence making the biggest profit.

Atomic Society is, as far as I'm aware, one of the very few games where you can be a total knobhead as a towns leader. Yes, you want a big, florishing town with a dozen storehouses full of all the produce your little pixels can produce - that is the same for every citybuilder. But here you can reach this goal through some really nasty decisions, I for once tortured buddhists and kicked out satanists, while my leader preached being an atheist from the roofs. It felt weird, but also kinda funny. You can imprison vegetarians, because they prefer to starve than eat meat anyway, or encourage people to be cannibals, so they take care of the dead vegetarians.
The social aspect, which I assume will be a major part in future updates (I hope so) makes this game so much different from other city builders.
Yes, there are bugs. Yes, I had a bug that made me forcefully quit the game through task manager and loosing about an hour of playtime. Yes, it was annoying. To be honest, all games have bugs when they are released. And this is early access, so there is still time to kill the bugs. I'm not worried.

I'm really looking forward how this game is going to grow and what else the devs come up with. The main goal, to entertain me as the gamer, has been reached :)
