Fix UI

Update, Oct 12: UI is still ♥♥♥♥ and game has so many bugs it is unbelievable. I wonder if they even have an outline of what the goal is with the main game mode. Economy is non-existent, new items are added that have no balance (look at the spear, takes up a tool slot and 1 shots players and certain mobs if it hits a toe)

People say "its just a UI you'll get used to it" but the server performance, bugs and kill trading are at the worse state I have ever seen. The ♥♥♥♥ UI is just the final nail in the coffin for me.

They spent time making a new game mode and new event, they haven't even touched fixing these major issues. It feels like they are deliberately trying to kill the game its so bad.

This was one of my favorite shooters I have ever played and I am just throwing in the towel. I am too old, and have too little time to play garbage. This game has turned into a dumpster fire that runs like an early access scam,

Game has returned in all its glory

As a seasoned and grizzled programmer who uses VIM and Fedora Linux (I'm in the process of moving to Arch) I find myself over qualified to evaluate Path of Exile. The question of whether my skills extend to video games is moot as my understanding of computers extends beyond any of my peers. I see life as an unoptimized algorithm and it is my sole responsibility to improve it one line at a time.

Upon launching this game for the first time I was expecting to be greeted with a CLI, but alas, I was left disappointed....These developers, in an act of unabashed frivolity, decided to build an entire UI, thus destroying my dreams of finding a game that can replace my addiction for Dwarf Fortress.

When the game finally loaded its pointless UI, I was left confused. The sheer audacity of these designers, to my chagrin the UI they forced upon me does not support my VIM keybindings?? I will not apologize for this, as it is the year 2023, is it not? Vim is a growing platform and game developers continue to slash its users at the knees by limiting our potential.

Nonetheless, I took it upon myself to continue my review. Performance-wise, the game is functional and runs with no issues on Fedora Linux. I found this impressive as I currently use an Nvidia GPU (**** you, Nvidia) and they seem to have a vendetta specifically targeted at me.

Graphically, it looks okay. In my mind, a perfect world would be constructed entirely out of ASCII, anything more is simply a waste of bits.

Overall, the game is acceptable, even though it is riddled with worthless GUI's, dialog boxes and fraught with mouse usage...I will continue to play, out of hopes that one day they will heed my ramblings and offer alternatives to this GUI riddled mess and allow my VIM bindings to work natively. For now, I will spend my time building scripts so that one day I may play the game the way computers were meant to be played, with the keyboard only.

I am an AVID anti 2d/platformer/rogue-like person.....but hoooooly, I cant deny that this is a gem. The sounds, the art style, the theme, basically everything about this game just feels good to me. It has some hiccups like weird lag in certain menus and its hard to place floor tiles on keyboard, but that is nothing I cant easily overlook compared to all the positives.

Amazing game, this is one of the few that I will remember when I'm 80 years old.

One of the most amazing games I've ever played, the entire experience feels nostalgic in a way. The ship being a wooden piece of junk held together with duct tape to the design of the planets makes me feel like I just opened an old box of toys I forgot about in the attic.

This is one of those games that once a year I just get this urge to fire back up and play. Nothing on the market comes close to the game play offered here. The unique relationships you have with good commanders (and honestly even the bad ones) create an amazing team environment that makes every attack and defense play feel meaningful. I love this game and cant keep myself from wanting to play.However, the player base has always been on a decline. At the moment it is still very playable and I don't see the game dying for a very long time. People like me just keep coming back even if its just to play a few rounds.
