While this game may be short, it is an experience I will never forget (playing through it 3 times does help it stay in the memory). From the aesthetic of the game to the engaging take on turn-based combat this game captivated me enough to play two normal play throughs plus a New Game Plus play through. There are four aspects to the game which I will discuss that my personal recommendation stands on; story and dialogue, the graphics, the soundtrack and the combat. Please note that I will be keeping this review as a personal story of myself with the game, I suggest you look at other reviews for more in-depth details regarding mechanics as you will not find that here.

Story/Dialogue:
This game is a fairy tale through and through, from the story to the rhyming narration and dialogue. This is arguably the weakest part of the game as I have seen reviews that point out how the constant rhymes can be annoying towards the later end of the game. However for me personally this take on story telling not only drew me into the world, but made me laugh, smile and tear up; providing a charming narrative which I have yet to get tired of.

The Graphics:
I will not comment much on the graphics of the game as it is clear to see the distinct style that Child of Light offers is one of its draws. It drew me into the game and I have no regrets about my purchase or the requirement of a Ubisoft account (something at the time, I did not have). All I have to say regarding the artwork that this game is, is that it compliments the fairy tale aesthetic of the game and filled me with awe and wonder as I ventured into new areas.

The Soundtrack:
For anyone considering to purchase this game or even those who don't have an interest in games like this, I suggest you listen to the soundtrack. The beauty of the main theme exemplifies the appeal of the environment and the child like fascination with this remarkable fairy tale. The ambient music encourages you to adventure through the wonderous environments. The frenetic combat and boss music filled me with energy as I sought combat to either further the story or for a way to strengthen my characters. The piano is the key centrepiece of the soundtrack and is enchanting bringing you further into the game and the world it is set in.

The Combat:
While some might be turned off by turned base combat, the way in which Child of Light engages the player through the ability to control the pace of combat adds another level of tactics to what otherwise would be simplistic combat. But this addition removed the monotony of combat and I actively grinded levels in order to experience more of the innovative take on turn based combat.

As with any game it is not perfect, however, this game not only helped open my eyes to what games could be as well as being a way I could use games to make me feel better in not just a relaxing way, but also an emotionally fulfilling way. I kept this review personal to me because the story of how this game brightened my mood best conveys my recommendation for this game and I am thankful for the creators for making a game that always put a smile on my face.
