tl:dr for Base Game: Worth every cent, frankly I think Tynan could charge AAA game prices and it would still feel like a steal.

tl:dr for Modding: Easy steam workshop modding makes it such that this came can, and in my opinion should, be turned into whatever experience you WANT it to be. Once you understand the basics, go WILD.

Rimworld, frankly its difficult to describe the scope this game can cover. On the surface level it could easily be passed off as just being a budget dwarf fortress in space, though in many ways its complexity is just as deep in areas. Depending on how cellular of a level you want to view the game on, you could easily follow the life of one pawn and their day to day struggle to survive on a hostile rimworld, keeping track, of their various failures and triumphs while only providing the minimum assistance for them to accomplish their goals. You could take on a sort of roleplay by controlling said single pawn as a nomadic individual or a solo crash survivor trying to make it home.

Going up a level, you could take on the role of a colony, intent on either cementing their place on a world they don't belong on for the long haul. Or build your way into space, keeping your pawns fed clothed and safe during the long months it will take to do so.

There are several endgames, though honestly I get so lost in my love for handcrafting colonies that I've never once "Beaten" the game. This is the sort of game that, like dwarf fortress, you have to set out with your own personal goals. Judging JUST the base game by itself with no mods or DLC, its worth the money you would be spending on it at regular price, and can easily sink hundreds of hours of time before even NEARING repetitive game play.

Now ... add MODDING to the ring however ...

Modding has the scope and power to turn this game into literally whatever you want it to be.

Think your crash survivors would be better off creating a cozy bed and breakfast for weary guests and travelers to take a snooze in, perhaps buying some of your local products before moving on, happy with your service?

Hospitality mod has your back.

Prefer to return prisoners as pigs rather than humans when releasing them?

Genetic modification mods exsist for that.

Think your war-crimes arent ware-crime-y enough?

Warcrimes Extended is here to help!

Think the game would be better if the penalty for eating without a table was *Instant Death*?

Theres a mod for that!

This game, when you factor mods in, has been just about everything a single game can be. Ive played resturant simulators on rimworld. Ive played Hotel management sims on rimworld. Ive played multi-player on rimworld. Do what you want HOW you want, since most mods are configurable to a level that you can even adjust it down to EXACTLY what you are looking for.

If you've read this far and still dont get it. BUY THIS GAME.
