Ready for some good old BF3 nostalgia to hit? Look no further

Did not expect to get such a nostalgia trip to my old CoD days (CoD4-BO2) from this game. But it did.

In the review section a lot of people are complaining about hackers, but in my games at least I have not seen a single hacker. The matchmaking is kinda rough if you are starting out without skill based matchmaking. You will get high level try-hards in your games, and you will have to play a few games to get decent weapons. But SBMM is what people are complaining about in the later CoD titles, and apparently a game not having this is also a problem...

All in all, if you are looking for a simple arcade shooter like CoD used to be in its glory days, look no further. You can get all weapons without paying real money and without a lot of grinding, and this game is definitely not pay to win. On my system the game runs smoothly and I haven't had any connection issues.

First of all, I downloaded this game for free.
Second of all, this is coming from a simracer, with full steeringwheel/pedal/shifter setup.

The game feels smooth, and the cars drive intuitively. I would describe the feel of the car as somewhat arcade-ish with a realistic touch. The AI is more aggressive than in previous versions which is a good addition.

For multiplayer, the wait times are immensely long, when you join a lobby sometimes someone does not connect and the lobby gets stuck. Also the netcode is rubbish. The cars jitter all over the place and contact between cars is unavoidable due to this weird behaviour. Also the people who drive online are comparable to forza/gran turismo, which makes playing with damage impossible. 1st corner crashes occur always and are unavoidable.

So, if you want to play a career mode, drive some old F1 cars and enjoy the game singleplayer, you should get this game while it is on sale. If you want to enjoy the game as a multiplayer game, and race online, this game is not for you.

I feel like I am now able to write a good review for this game. As of now I have over 1200 hours played, and I am the highest rank in the game (Grand Champion). I have several accounts and play through the full rank set so I have a good overview of what it is like playing this game in different ranks.

Firstly, the game itself. Rocket league is easy to pick up, hard to master. The skill curve of this game is pretty gradual but there is a high ceiling. The game itself plays very smoothly and very few bugs/issues are in the game. The game itself is very enjoyable, especially when played with friends. The main thing which kept my interest is that there is always something to learn in this game. You can always improve on something, your playstyle and set of mechanics is never complete.

The community however is a huge downside. Like in every competitive game, some people like to ruin it for others. This kind of toxicity is widely spread among the rocket league ranks. From the lower ranks even to the highest rank, people like to blame everyone but themselves, and this makes playing ranked sometimes really unenjoyable. However I guess this occurs in every game so we will have to deal with it.

The game also features a lot of different modes regarding team sizes (1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4) and different playmodes regarding different 'balls' or fields. With modes like basketball, or even playing rocket league with an ice hockey puck. These modes are usually more casual and people tend to be nicer in here.

Psyonix did mess up with the microtransaction system. Psyonix is bought by Epic games, and therefore the key/crate model is not allowed. This system is replaced by a system with very overpriced items which is just completely insane. Trading items has become useless as prices were complete garbage. It should also be noted that rocket league is going to move to the Epic launcher probably, and might become free to play (not sure but it might happen). Therefore if you are doubting whether you are buying this game, you can just wait a while and might get lucky this way.

So concluding, if you are looking for a new game and are aiming to play games with friends, definetly buy it. If you are looking for a new ranked game, this game can also be for your. Just note that the community is rather toxic at times. Also if you think microtransactions and visual items, are very important, this game is not your best bet.
