For those who don't know, Jimmy Savile was a very eccentric personality on British television and radio during the second half of the 20th century. At the time he was much loved and seemed like a great guy; donating £40 million to various charities and universities and set up a couple charities himself. However he was also one of Britain's most prolific sexual predators; exploiting his stardom, charity and status to assault hundreds of people from younger girls and boys to adult men and women. He was buried in Woodlands Cemetary in Scarborough and for the time his headstone lay there before it was removed and sent to landfill, the words "It was good while it lasted" were etched in gold on the front. It is not quite clear what he was referring to here but depending on your perspective it could be some good things or some pretty twisted things.

In the words of the late Jimmy, Battleborn was good while it lasted. Paying £40 for the pre-order deluxe edition, I thought I would be supporting a good cause for a game I was really looking forward to and honestly enjoyed for the 99 hours I played. I'm sure most donors felt that way when donating to Jimmy's charities before the sexual allegations came through. Then the game died and most of the players left. Most of my gametime was repeating campaign missions to unlock better gear because multiplayer was practically non-existent. Furthermore the game was poorly optimised and despite my medium-high level setup, was suffering from low frames averaging at 30-50. The horror would still be present despite turning my settings down to low and doing everything to optimise smoother a gameplay experience.

If only I had spotted the warning signs...checking back at Battleborn the game is now free-to-play with an ever-dwindling player base averaging just 45 players online each day for the past 30 days. For a while in 2016 those on the community forums were predicting Battleborn would become the next Evolve, or worse a free-to-play game with early signs of around 300-900 players online on average from launch to late 2016 and the general nature of the game itself. To be fair, it's launch was greatly shadowed by the "colossal" Overwatch that released at a similar date in 2016 therefore not many people knew about the game at all. Long story short, the forum ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ were right in their predictions after all. Before Jimmy's lifetime, there were allegations made against him of child abuse and sexual assault but most of these were brushed away. Guess they too were right after all.
