People are all doomers in these comments, you should read on before making judgement. The actual base gameplay loop is solid. I have had full parties of friends playing with me all launch weekend, and we had an absolute blast and lots of laughs and panic scenarios that ended in some good fun.

On launch week, there is a definite lack of optimization and some bugs, but with a few patches to fix that, this game is plenty good and has a decent amount of progression to hold you over for many hours of gameplay. Everyone is claiming that the product is "nothing like the previous games", but in essence it is exactly the same as all the previous titles. Use gun, kill things, get money, buy bigger gun, repeat.

KF1 was nostalgic for a lot of people, understandable. But to compare the two games isn't even the same league... KF1 even now has terrible AI, clunky buttons, N64 grahpics, and dated animations. The only thing maybe here is the silly voice lines.

KF2 had the same issues/ struggles as we are seeing with this game on launch. I have faith that due to the backbone of the gameplay being intact, that KF3 has an extreme advantage with much newer gen technology and advancement to make this an amazing experience. Perks being tied to characters does not matter to me. I think the actual animations, maps, and gunplay are just fine. Nothing is special yet really here, but nothing is bad either, people complaining here have no basis.
The most important thing here to note: the hit register is on point.

Quality of life fixes, driver crash fixes, optimization, and a little polish, and this game is off to the races. UE5 is what it is, so framegen is necessary. The battle pass system is totally optional and all aesthetic. For the people complaining about skins, you're focused on the wrong thing. If you don't like it, then literally don't do it, it doesn't have any negatives. All because people care so much about character selection, now we have to waste the dev's time patching a class/character split that really wasn't even necessary. Is it cool? Sure... but I personally don't think that is a reason not to play a perfectly fine game.

Don't doom this game before you try it, game has plenty to offer, and is a challenge at HoE difficulty. Most of the people complaining about features literally just don't understand how to play the game. Dodging is essential. it DOES work, you just have to time it. Yes guns have an aimcone and accuracy, it's why the attachment system is in the game, your tier 1 zero attachment weapons do indeed suck, that's the point. Mantling and using the environmental traps and ziplines is essential. Looping is possible, just need to be quick about it and use the stuff mentioned above. I will admit, bosses could be slightly lowered in terms of speed, it doesn't feel like we really have room to breathe on some of them in the smaller maps where its tough to make distance like sewer or office.

All in all, positive thumbs up. Haters will always hate. Most people take the time to write BS reviews about what they don't like because they are upset anyways, so take the negatives with a grain of salt. I think all the positive reviews actually sum up most of what is going on with this game. Cheers, enjoy the gaming, and good luck!

Excellent little roguelike TD. Much love, great soundtrack. Fun interactions.

One thing though is the tileset random generation is kinda whack sometimes and can end your run if you get unlucky, but that's okay.

One of the most challenging, yet rewarding fun games this year. Great with or without friends, just a direct improvement over the original game.

Amazing game, well made, well optimized, fun mechanics, good shooter. Hands down worth the money, don't get starter edition though or else you ruin yourself earning new op's.

This game is a Gem of the turn based genre. While I may not be the absolute BEST at it, it is still very fun and interesting to play. The storyline changes and events are randomized so your experience is always different. The combat is very fun and makes you invest a lot of time and effort into strategy and tactics. Playing it usually ends up in me getting lost for hours and forgetting everything until im done. I am sad that they have basically halted any future development, but overall the product they have created for us is still an absolute masterpiece in my opinion that other games fail to scratch. It basically plays like fantasy medieval XCOM, but with its own twists on injury and combat to suit the melee style. 11/10 great purchase, well worth my money.

Its as most said already, this is just like the old Dungeon Keeper feels mixed in with the overworld combat and feel of Warcraft. It plays very well, and even has 4 player multiplayer that is quite fun! 10/10 great product and well done narration and gameplay. Love it.

Early Access Review
This game is absolutely fabulous. The creators brought back their old game (Bloodline Champions) and turned around and gave us the same great arena fighting experience with a new overhauled graphical engine and better servers. No more lag, great visuals and character mechanics. The dev's themselves are quite responsive and actually listen to their community. Overall it is different enough from its dead cousin that the game sparks new life into itself and redefines how arena mobas should be played. Definitely worth the money in my opinion, and if its too steep then just wait for the free to play coming next year, but personally I feel that stunlock deserves the revenue for the awesome product that they have labored on, so I bought the Ultimate Fan Pack.

Now for the nitty gritty:
PROS:
- every match is active, and the battles are short but extremely intense (gets better in upper skill levels).

- every match is redeemable. There is always a chance at comeback since every round introduces new mechanics through battlerites and resets the health bars ( there is no snowball).

- community is less toxic than other mobas

- servers are distributed properly so the ping is minimal, thats a great improvement +++

- each hero is played differently, they are very unique.
- there are no direct counters to heroes, which is great.
- devs regularly address their players, which is awesome because the changes they have made ( and are in the process of making) really will improve the game.
- there are levels for each hero, giving you titles and in game cosmetics.
- there aren't "runes" or "powers" or "traits" which make your characters indirectly more powerful that are account bound. This means that veterans dont just destroy new players by having "a better weapon", this game is entirely mechanic-based skill, other than the per round battlerites that reset every game that every character acquires.
- the skillcap makes it easy to learn, but the difficulty curve and really in-depth combos make every hero combination interact differently, which allows for a TON of depth and experimentation. This is what keeps the games dynamic and really fun.
- The heroes have personality. The skins are pretty good ( in the future im sure there will be more legendaries to support f2p model).

CONS (some of which are being addressed very soon thank you devs):
- the MVP system seems to heavily favor healers if the game goes on too long, but MVP currently doesnt give any bonus so thats not really an issue.

- game needs PTT or some voice or ping communication SOMEHOW, this would really help with random teammate cohesion.

- No form of clan-based system yet, but im sure this will come eventually. really this is in its current state just a fun game to play with your buddies.

IN SHORT: Get it. Its worth it. Even just to try it. Game gets much more fun with friends, because communication adds a whole new level to the game, and the skill curve makes you want to play more to get better. Heroes are fun and unique, and the servers are stable. Stunlock has outdone themselves with this one people, you should definitely investigate this game and see what its all about!
