I'm not gonna lie to you, the learning curve for this game is a real biggy. And some people might look at that and decide that isn't worth their time. I thought the same a couple of years ago when I played the game when it was free for a weekend. I downloaded it and decided to play as a count in France. But I was unable to figure out how to even raise my troops, so I quit after an hour of faffing about.

A couple of years later I started watching a video series on youtube by the one and only Northernlion. I ended up only watching half of it because I wanted to give CK2 a second try now that i thought that I had learned a bit. So I bought the game, for real this time.

I started to play as a irish duke this time (to be specific, a ruler design character as the Duke of Mide at 1066 start date) and I was hooked, I couldn't stop playing. The game occupied me day and night, I only let it rest when I had to go to school, do homework, eat and sleep. I ended up quitting my Irish playthrough and starting a new. And after that a new and after that a new and so on... There was so many endless possibilities to play this game, and I wanted to play and experiencing them all. So I never ended up finishing any playthroughs until a couple of months ago (September 2019). To me Crusader Kings 2 isn't about just playing one character/dynasty from start to finish it is experiencing many characters and create their stories in a rich grand strategy game with almost endless possibilities. Even though I have played for as long as I have now, I have still not experienced all what this game has to give. But of course endless possibilities comes at it cost to your wallet. And if your not prepared to pay then CK2 won’t give. But in my opinion the money is well worth it especially if you get it at a sale.

CK2 is one of the best strategy games I have ever played, but only if your are willing to take the time to learn the mechanics. But in my opinion the best part of this game is learning to play it. I would give anything for having this game erased from my mind and having to learn it again because the first experience this game gives you is truly an amazing one and I can't recommend it enough to someone that loves strategy games. It has become my most played game on steam and I think it will stay up there for a very long time!

I wouldn't give ANYTHING for having this game erased, but you do make a point. It was truly magical the first times I played it. Now I know the mechanics so well that I pretty much can't lose no matter the nation. In the early days revolts could steal the crown from your hands, and you (as a little, scottish lady of thirteen years) have to get that throne back.
That won't happen again unfortunately.
Maybe in CK3
