Early Access Review
Played one match, and it's all i need to write this early access review, which is sad because most early access games i will play upwards of 20-50 hours before even considering it...

First off, customization:
When i think of "accent colors" i think of pinstripes, carbon hoods or roofs, decals and so forth. NOT WHEELS AND SPRINGS. Same with "primary color" on some of the vehicles only changing what SHOULD be accent colors... May want to look into that, maybe add a Third color option for accessories so you can change the wheels and springs separately from the main chassis.

Secondly, Server latency:
My lord is this bad. Vehicles are jumping around the screen so severely that it's impossible to connect a good hit on them with anything less than a gauss or rocket launcher due to the latency you experience at close range. Any other game i'm running 80 ping, here? 250-800 in just that first match. NOT a good first impression and certainly not a good way to retain new players. Then there's the plane drop. How are you supposed to know where you're going to drop when the vehicles are jumping around like they're de-syncing from the server?

Thirdly, weapon loadouts: Switching weapons takes time, i'm perfectly aware of this. But when you show a hotkey for something, you click it, and it fails to be useable even though it says you have ammo or multiple of said items? There's a huge problem. These are major issues that should have been "shot down" before launching.

4th the shop: There's a big focus on paying for skins and decals, *which is perfectly fine!* but you should have worked on the game's stability BEFORE worrying about your store being populated with items. You don't make the merchandise before you make an impression to a big audience. You may have a following, but i'm sure it's not strong enough to support the game so fervently right now.

5th, the camera:
I'm not sure if this was meant to be a part of the game but that camera "rocking" effect is nice. BUT, what's not nice about it, is that the camera occasionally will jolt back and forth causing the camera to become.... unresponsive for a few seconds i guess is the proper way to put it. When it suddenly zooms out you lose control of the camera briefly, once it returns to the vehicle though it's okay... Would suggest looking into that.

6th, sound: I truly hope those engine sounds are place-holders because shifting endlessly is not something that should be happening in 2019. It was okay in old games, but these days cars with "30 gears and more" is rather unbecoming of a game of any sort. More of a pet-peeve than it is an issue but i thought i'd still comment on it because after a while the constant shifting does get annoying.

To put things simply. There are many key mechanics that make this game nearly unplayable in its current state, and FAR too much focus on the store. In its CURRENT state, i cannot recommend this game. There's far too many issues that should have been fixed BEFORE EARLY ACCESS, that are still blatantly an issue. I'm sorry guys.

But, don't get discouraged! it's a great concept! You just need to give it some TLC before you add the damned polish.

I bought 4 copies for myself and 3 other streamers, we've been looking for something to play between Starmade and Minecraft streaming... And i found Avorion by accident.

This game, in the little bit of time i've played it, has proven an EXTENSIVE grind. You spend far more time grinding resources to make even a semi-functional blueprint. The UI currently is cluttered, intrusive (no way to shrink overly large boxes) or make particular alterations to the HUD.

That being said though! This game has a huge amount of opportunity. The sheer size of the galaxy, the micro-management required to make a ship function properly, but once it does? it's a treat to handle the massive ships you design from literally any form-factor of squares and corners.

Prices fluctuate WILDLY on costs, and lead to questionable decisions. Some of them, like setting a new spawn location, could end up costing nearly a million when you first start, making the desire to progress a bit daunting since if you lose your ship, you need to pay AND have the resources to replace it (insurance is a huge help) AND have the extra needed to replace the needed crew. Again this isn't a bad thing! it's just tedious for those with not alot of time.

Building is very unfriendly, but the depth of it is just stupidly wonderful! I mean everything right down to the shape of the guns AND THE COLOR OF THE WEAPON'S SHOTS!? This is beautiful! It's just a challenge sometimes to work with the clunky block placement. When extending a part it should probably extend one side at a time, rather than extending both directions though, as the double-sided extension can cause a bit of meshing with parts. Sometimes that's great, but other times it causes small gaps you can't fix.

I've got to say, this game is gorgeous! from the soothing music to the sheer expansive availability of the game itself in such a small download. Keep it up Boxelware!

Got this game hoping for a quick fix for my need to play hover-car racing ever since Jet Moto and Wipeout on the Playstation... What i got was FAR more!

Amazing soundtrack, intense tracks and gravity defying speeds in vehicles that look more like combat fighters than they do speedsters! This game hit EVERY point of enjoyment i had hoped for and now i'm actively trying to show it to friends! THIS IS A GREAT TRIBUTE to the games like F-Zero, Jet Moto, PowerDrome, Pod Racer, Wipeout and the like! THANK YOU!!!

Don't degrade this review based on time played, i spent MONTHS running around just pummeling the crap out of reapers, re-animated guillotine mammoths and laser-shooting panthers trying to 100% this beast of a game on PS3! I loved this game then, and haven't played since it originally came out. (PS3 died :( ) I've been looking for this game to either go on sale on a black friday or drop in price when i got a job, but Humble Bundle giving it away free right now?? I couldn't resist this masterpiece! (plus my entire paycheck this week went to bills -_- so i miss out on cyber monday and black Friday sales.)

The music is classic metal and rock, which is what originally got me into the game to begin with. Voice acting isn't always spot-on but it's very strong for what it is, and with such a famous/amazing voicing cast?? I can't complain one bit about this game.

controls are a bit sluggish (hell it was sluggish even on PS3) and while the required use of a musical score to do something as simple as spawning a vehicle tends to get rather drull after a while, the customization, storyline, graphics and comedic relief make up for that in droves.

Plus the dismemberment!! Who can say no to a DECAPITATIONS!!!

amazingly detailed in requiring good tankery and deciding what ammo is best to use...

but sadly it suffers from low player numbers due to this game actually requiring some precision rather than point-and-click (warthunder) or "freemium ammo" (World of Tanks)

while it's a great game, qeue times are horrendous. :(

Plus, having been an alpha tester of this amazing game, being unable to use my original account here on steam is kind of a drag... i miss my type 59 being available for use, and many of the prizes i've unlocked through the time-frame i've played on this game. I truly hope they allow you to merge accounts at a later date, but until then, the game is still good compared to others of this genre.

A relatively nice, fairly active 'idle' game... but seriously Steam needs to stop bringing MOBILE games to the PC... it's ruining the PC gaming community in favor of 'clickbait' games.. at least this one doesn't have random freaking advertisements.

Used to play something very similar to this on ROBLOX, was called Galleons. Same principle, same basic idea but instead of just wrecking a ship and finding the powder-kegs, you actually need to keep the ship up and running. It's a really nice, quick and intense match system where you're heavily reliant on a good captain that knows how to balance orders to fight and a small crew of rapid response repair sailors. Course you'll get people that insist on ramming as the best option on the matter, but overall this game is shaping up to be quite the monster. I'm amazed this is only two individuals, and i wish 'em the best of luck on this endeavor. Because this game is literally the embodyment of... i want to say close to 9 years of my childhood xD

Alright so clear things up a little bit, i've played this game through the primary client for some time now (probably close to a year at this point with a little less than 500 hours in it.) And need to make a few things very clear about getting into this game. IT'S NOT A FAST PACED GAME! Do not come into this thinking it'll be a quick and adventurous thing! If you do that, then of course it's going to feel like crap!

*Boat controls are sluggish, much like a real boat's reaction time when it comes to pontoon vehicles,
*there is drift,
*off limits fishing zones,
*slow trips to the zone you're going to,
Level-based
(edited)***limited baits for those that aren't paying customers (which is fine if you're not a severe fan of fishing and only play for fun.) All bait is indeed purchaseable with ingame currency, it's just a question of patience and devotion to keep playing if you plan to keep up with demand when it comes to bait up-keep.

*It's a bit tough to get started in this game, If you've played the fishing minigame from GaiaOnline (or played the mobile game "Ace Fishing: Wild Catch"... or hell ANY fishing game from the last 20 years, including from the old-school Sega system, Rapala, Cavela's, Championship Bass etc.) then you're already pretty much prepped to play this game. Your best bet is to take heed to the tutorial, take a bit in a public lobby and just chat while you fish. It's always better to converse with others than sit alone. :)

SIGNING UP!
Signing up for this game is a little more tedious than others, as there is no "connecting" Steam to the primary, which means you'll need an account either on the actual account, or an account on steam (or in my case now, an account on both but only one is my actual account now.) This doesn't mean that it's hard to make an account, you just need different accounts for Steam and the actual launcher :/ so if you play through Steam, use the account you signed up using the "register" button in its sign-up page of the launcher.

If you signed up through the launcher that is downloaded from their website or through their main website page you'll need to play through their actual launcher/game. not steam

Now another thing that needs to be addressed is the lack of a help desk. Yes, this is an issue. And so is the issue with no way for disgruntled players to really get help in this game. Forums are always negative due to the fact that no one really takes the time to think before they type (as many of these reviews show.

Do i suggest this game? Of course! :) It's a great time-passer.

If you prefer mobile games though i suggest "Ace Fishing: Wild Catch" (albeit that game relies on a daily energy limit but it can be ignored if you got plenty of friends to send you energy, since you can overload the limit ;)

Edit: Adjusted some mentions in this review due to my poorly written comment about the bait, added a bit to the starting out part as well. I'll look to add to the review as i settle back into playing it now that i've switched over to Steam from the standalone launcher varient. But for now? it's time to sleep. happy new-year everyone <3

*Built factory
*Too Small
*Built expansions
*Still too small
*Hunts down mods to make factory NOT small...
*Built factory buildings (from a mod)
*Put research factory too close to production factory,
*Can't untangle main line of resources, 50 drills feeding one building.
*Built Diesel Engine
*Can't find diesel engine after running from large bug nest... (destroyed?)
*Created army of robots (mod)
*Army of robot kicks alien butt
*Found Diesel Engine
*Looks at the clock, whole world slowly begins to shift to the left like i was playing GuitarHero.
*Returns attention to the game from dizziness.
*Got 9 tunnel pieces, can't find 10th...
*Got 1 pipe-to ground, can't find other one...
*Need more iron, finds more copper (filled 5 warehouses (mod) of copper.)
*Need more copper, finds more oil
*Need more coal, finds more bugs
*What is food?

*Got up to use bathroom, hear bugs attacking my outpost, begins panic (wireless headphones)
Realized i forgot to put bot army on guard, robots went off randomly, can't find them.... still getting random alien artifacts in their loot chest, guess they're still active even after 15 hours of being lost on radar ._.

*Had power cut out on my factory 12 times in 2 hours due to a shortage of water pressure, my 50 steam engines are not happy...

jeezus it's been 3 days.... but my factory needs me still ;-;

THE REAL REVIEW

Thank you... THANK YOU for making such an amazing game.
I need to emphasize this... the moment you can buy this game or ask for a birthday/christmas gift: GET THIS GAME! I've only EVER gotten this much joy out of a game when i played Little Big Planet! This game is LBP for OCD teenagers and adults who have a love for modding, industry, rails, and mining, crafting and combat!

I can't believe i'm saying this, as the other 4 reviews that i maxed out the character limit on were absolute crap. They were full of hate and distaste for the development teams in question. (Warthunder, Heroes and Generals, PlanetSide2 and Naval Action.) And this'll be my first one with pretty much no hate in anything that i have to speak upon.

The positive quirks of this game!
THIS GAME IS STILL IN ALPHA!!!

*Consistent updates in the game's progress: If something isn't updated on time you can expect a quick response from the team explaining why, along with either a quick mini patch OR further changes in the later update.

*VERY helpful and stable community! You got a question about something? The forums help you, the discussions are quick to respond here on Steam and if you're lucky the development team or mods will answer sooner than the community can react! It's amazing to see such a rapid response from such a small group on a game like this. It truly is.

*Visibly beautiful game: With consistant and weekly (Friday) information for the geeks who want to know exactly what's going on! VERY good impression to the public with this, because it gives the community a chance to see into what they are dealing with on a regular basis :) It's great to hear about what's being worked upon. You can check out... what is it... 3 years of Friday Fact blogs here[www.factorio.com] :)

*Longevity: In its design thanks to how the coding is being compiled, it also relies on a FREE
program for 3-dimensional models which means anyone can get into the fun of making a new and inviting twist to the game. Adaptations to the core of the game also makes sure that all follow-up updates to the game means that few major bugs can break through and cause damage, it may be more tedius, but these guys are taking a very serious stance on making sure this game truly stands the tests of time.

*Developers who truly care about the game AND their community: which is an absolute must have for any multiplayer capable game <3 thank you guys!

*Constant communication: occasional livestreams and continued support from the developers means concerns/bugs and suggestions are continually seen, even if it may take time to implement! I can not stress this enough, this is what keeps a game ALIVE!

*Replayability: This. Is. Awesome. Seriously. Every time I think i'm bored of this game all i need to do is download a mod[mods.factorio.com] and try again with the added handicaps or challenges! :D I highly suggest beating it "Vanilla" (no mods) before you add mods though. I currently have 27 mods installed. One of them is even an ION SATELLITE CANNON!!! come on that should be badass enough for a go on its own.

*Everything is researched Just like any survival game you start out with nothing but 2 pickaxes and can create anything from the simplest factories to robot armies that do everything for you. This game has everything i've ever asked for in a minecraft-esk package :)

*Player control Don't like a vehicle color? change it! Don't like a building name? Pick it up and place it back down! Got a clog in your maze of conveytor belts? Well that's a problem that may not be as simple. Realized a new way to make the factory more accessible? RENOVATE THE WHOLE THING!

*Mods, mods MODS!: Want more tanks? There's a mod for that. Want to build a nuclear power plant? There's a mod for that. Want a rail tanker before .15 update? Want a combat-ready robot army that looks like actual combat robots? There's a mod for that. Want to launch an Ion cannon satellite to destroy entire bug nests? You better believe there is a mod for that beauty![mods.factorio.com]

*MULTIPLAYER!!!: If it wasn't amazing enough by now, the fact you can play multiplayer vanilla or modded is icing on the cake, now you don't need to be alone in the wilderness AND the servers are only restricted by your own connection stability. The games can get HUGE!!

The downsides

You'll forget people around you exist. Your job. Your pets. Your schoolwork... Basically anything not surrounding your factory or on your screen. this includes food, sleep and drink... and worst of all bathroom breaks.

When you get deep into the game it'll get severely laggy BUT, the team is doing amazingly well and cutting down on these problems[www.factorio.com] :)

User-error is almost always a problem late-game, especially with the flurry of conveytor belts constantly pulling resources. even one mis-placed arm could back up MILES of belt and be near impossible to fix for hours as you wrack your brain trying to recognize where they go and why. Many times you'll find unused items stretching the whole system because of an obsolete or abandoned belt-feed. Which then leads you to question why it was there and completely forget about the clog

My final outcome for this game
This game, is by far my most favorite and beloved survival crafting game that doesn't require food and water with 7 Days to Die a close second just because it has gravity when you build things and it can collapse from even one misplaced block of mass.

Factorio is by far an amazing gem.

Factorio: 5/5
Wube Software LTD: 10/10

Limit reached. <3

Took over all of Germany before middle-ages with 6 cities,

ripped apart russia in 2000 with Ballistas shortly after ending the reigns of the Ottomon Empire with cannons

destroyed America shortly after with early era "landships" and Destroyers in the oceans

Australia held up strong for much of the fight, being held back by a Landship "wall" holding the fort near the Italian borders until an unstable peace was stabilized with them.

And then.... all came to a deafening halt, as GANDI declared war....

3 turns.... It took 3 turns for an old bald guy to drop enough ordinance to end *everything* ._.

10/10 wouldn't sleep for 15 days again.
