Edit 8/24/2023: Two years later, changed to a positive review since the devs have been dedicated week by week and trying to make the game better instead of abandoning it. DLC just dropped and hopefully it's fun. I'll edit it again after playing through the DLC.

-----
After putting in 38 hours, it's a fun game but...
1. Poor optimization - get ready for lag spikes
2. Shading bugs and extremely dark caves on some settings - goes from super bright to extremely dark when entering some caves. some caves are just always lit. some caves count as being outside no matter where you are in it (typically you're sheltered).
3. Various balancing issues - gold spawn rates suck when lots of tier 4 items need gold. Good luck looking in every cave you can find for gold or going across the map several times. It's much easier with a group, but feels like walking simulator at one point. Bears are ridiculously strong unless you do cheese it running past it as it charges you to avoid the hit, shoot an arrow at it's head, and repeat.
4. Exp loss mechanism sucks - about to level up and die? well you just lost that entire level
5. Animal hit boxes are wonky - seems to not be as bad when you're the host, but otherwise expect to see arrows and bullets go through targets every once in a while
6. So many bugs - build a platform above loot that was dropped because platform broke? well it's in the ground now and you lost a lot of progress because the loot is inaccessible. Can only queue up 1-2 items in the workbench. Smelting ores can get glitched forcing you to move items in an out of the furnace to queue it back up. Consuming oxygen out of a oxygen bag while it's been refilled can cause it to glitch causing it to use all the oxite forever trying to refill it. The list goes on.
7. Incomplete tech tree

There's quite a bit of content and I enjoyed it despite the bugs. Definitely still feels like an Early Access game though with quite a few kinks to work out. Friends make the adventure much more satisfying and less frustrating. For $30, I feel like the reasons above take away from the experience too much in order to make it worthwhile. Wait a month or two or however long it takes for some optimization/bug/balancing fixes and take another look. Just not now.
