I'll be upfront and say that I've only played Total War here and there before the Warhammer series of games. Some Rome and Medieval 2 are about all I can remember playing before.

That being said I still think that the Warhammer series has been probably the best addition for the Total War games, having added so much needed unit variety that just wasn't quite there before CA went wild with a fantasy series for the first time. Even if Warhammer 3 did start off rather poor and after the first DLC, stumbled quite a bit with long stretches between each of the DLC, it's safe to say they've gotten back into their stride with Thrones of Decay.

There's really nothing quite like the Total War games to start with either, then you add ontop of it all the fantasy elements that Warhammer brings and it adds so much. All that these games really lack is really deep diplomacy, but as it is now is far better than what it used to be.

Absolutely get this if you like Warhammer.
