this is a stealth game with 3d platforming and it's pretty fun overall. a lot of the levels are pretty freeform and beatable in multiple ways, but there are a few of them that feel pretty linear, especially in the last episode, "renaissance." you'll easily start to notice where the quickest and easiest paths are, simply by using "amber vision." however, the platforming and the mechanics are really fun to play around with, so it didn't feel mundane during those more linear levels. i think the game shouldn't allow the player to be able to save the game at all times. as much i tried not to savescum, it was hard to resist during those longer segments between autosaves. (inb4 git gud). however, if it were taken out, it'd make the game more difficult, and thus more rewarding for the player when they get through them. the art and environments were really cool and quite immersive. there were lots of enemies and were introduced and combined in ways throughout the game that made each of them interesting to play around. textures can be pretty glitchy; you'll often see characters move through the textures. some of the sounds in the game were annoying as ♥♥♥♥, like whenever someone speaks to styx telepathically. or whenever elves speak at all times. the echo effect is abused, to an almost comedic level. styx is a cool main character, but everyone else kinda sucked. didn't really care for them. the dialogue for everyone besides styx is pretty corny and/or generic.it could have had more personality or at least a bit funnier, but it was usually uninspired and lacking the same bite that styx's dialogue had. the story was good and i was really engaged. so yeah, pretty fun.

This is a fantastic game. It does a great job at pushing the limits of the game's main mechanic per level, while creating a haunting atmosphere throughout. The puzzles, horror aspects, and sound were what I enjoyed the most about DARQ. The devs are even releasing free DLC, so if you're thinking that $20 is a bit much for a 2-4 hour game, you at least know where that kind of money is being put towards.

Pretty fun shooter. Movement and gunplay is fast paced and varied. Enemy movement can look choppy sometimes and hit reg can be inconsistent. Some maps are way too big. Adding health packs in deathmatch-like modes would be nice for surviving multiple fights. Game is practically dead but if you have a group of friends, start up a server and have fun with it
