A small but quite intense mod with action packed moments that works as a sort of side story to the events that happens in the original game. Weapon wise, the arsenal have been expanded to the point I would consider this mod to sort of being an alternative Opposing Force but on steroids. Overall, I would say it is a surprisingly good work that despite a couple of hiccups manages to keep you engaged for all its lenght. Definitely a must play for every Half-Life fan!

This game might superficially disguise as itself as a diner management simulator, but make no mistakes, the story and narrative aspect is truly the strong suit in this game, and for certain aspect you might found a little bit more in common with the original Life is Strange (expecially due to certain obvious references within the story). Overall it is a short but well crafted experience and it has at least a decent replay value, so I'll gladly reconmend this game and to support the developers in whatever future project they might decide to pursue.

Very enjoyable Half Life 2 mod, I particulary liked the emphasis on a more subtle horror/atmospheric emphasis in between Chapter 5, the level design is not too much confusing and it's quite clear which objective to find and were to go. Only couple of issues I would address are the short lenght and the overuse of dark areas compared to vanilla HL2, which while are great at adding tension they feel a little bit overbearing (you'll have to use the flashlight for the majority of this mod). Overall a good experience and defintely worth a playthrough if you are an Half Life fan!

Early Access Review
This game, along with its prequel The Complex: Found Footage, are probably one of the best Backrooms games that fully leans into the sense of mistery, dread, familiarity and alienation without regressing into a loud "cat & mouse" hunt or needless jumpscares and convoluted lore. While there isn't much gameplay, the game makes up with the atmosphere, level, music and environment designs.

However, the game in its current state might take you less than an hour to complete, and according to the developer, the full relase out of early access will probably be on the 6 hours lenght, and some events and areas might be subject to changes or suffer from some bugs.

I had a fun time with this mod, even if some parts could have used a bit more work to refineon the latter half and final boss. Let's start with the positives:

- Story is quite simple, you are a metrocop unit recovering his memories, starting by a raid on a rebel base and recovering Black Mesa materials. After getting your train derailed by a rebel assault you have to get through a snowvy eastern european (possibly russian?) city, fighting off rebels, zombies and Vortigaunts to get back to a combine installation base. It complement well the gameplay and atmosphere of Half Life 2. There's a mention of some sort of pandemic that hit both human and Combine in the city, and I wish they did it more with it.

- Puzzles weren't a big problem and they fit nicely without breaking the pacing of the game.

-Manhack mechanic was a fun addition, and nice way to divert hordes of enemies so that even when fights get intense expecially when you have to escort the Stalker in the dark carefully looking for headcrabs, barnacles and other zombies it didn't felt like an unfair challenge for the most part.

And negatives:

- There's a surprising lack of grenades in the whole game (I must have thrown less than two in the whole short run of the mod) even in areas were they could have been useful. I assume this was a conscious choice by the modder, forcing the player to use the manhack mechanic, but I didn't think it was really necessary.

- the modded MP5 and AR2 have way too much recoil and makes them much more annoying to use compared to the base HL2 versions. They also deal a lot more damage than before, to the point a single citizen rebel can kill you in literally no time at times.

- HL2 Vortigaunts are not very fun to fight. They can accurately pin point your position and deal a massive amount of damage that you hardly avoid, expecially with the level design forcing you to fight them in close proximity. Using the manhacks is useful only partially and in group this strategy don't work as well like with rebels and zombeis.

- Latter part of the game requires you to use the AR2 secondary fire to destroy some energy receivers, but the spread has been changed from a single energy ball to a spread fire shot. By the time you hit the receiver you might have emptied all your alt fire reserve, and the game at least is aware enough of this flaw to give you unlimited ammo crates close to the place you need to shoot. It get worse in the final level, where you have to refill by running to the other side of the room avoiding damage from the charged Vortigaunts .

- In the later stage you get ill, which slowly decrease your HP and your suit energy over time and turn your vision and movement in a slow-motion blurry mess, requiring you to get inside the "vaccination station" to repeal your full health. This becomes awful if you aren't near one of those station or under fire by stalkers or vortigaunt, and even inside they can kill you in few hits despite it regenerating your health.

- Both boss fights are incredibly tedious and bulletspongey.

Overall, as an Half Life fan I still reconmend this mod expecially if you have played the original game first.

Great puzzle game with interesting mechanics based on light and shadows, definitely worth a try! It's a little bit short on the playtime and some platforming sections may be not 100% accurate due to the jankyness of the movements. Sadly, the developer recently ceased to exist and there's no update planned to fix framerate or crash issues, so bear in mind before buying it. Overall a really good game beside the flaws!

Aesthetically speaking, this mod is not as impressive looking or detailed as Portal: Stories Mel or even some workshop maps, and the story is VERY barebone, but the whole gameplay concept based around the third time portal and the puzzles based around it makes everything worth it.

I really enjoyed finding the solution for the test chambers and some of them really made me think in a way I've never considered for a Portal game, definitely a nice addition for every fan of the series.
