Over all great game. Great sound design, great visuals, awesome gameplay. There are some definite bugs.
Found a bug that wasn't letting me save the first town because the door would not open.
Some anomalies don't spawn.
Allies will block doors in towns, requiring a reload.
Sometimes the hud will disappear making you need to hit ESC to get it to pop back up.
The game will randomly switch out my gun in the "4" slot with some random busted one i picked up.
Sometimes medkits just don't heal you when used.
These bugs are not particularly game breaking, but they do make it annoying sometimes. There is A LOT of walking too. Over all though I still recommend it because everything else is very well done. A game of this scale will have bugs, no doubt about that. None of them break the game entirely, just break immersion. Most will be fixed by either the dev team, or mods in the future. If you can't tolerate the bugs, then just wait until they are all fixed. Also, the upgraded editions don't just give you stuff right away, so don't expect a free walk in the park from the start.

Killed a rabbit. Knife wouldn't skin it. Tried to drink. Character wouldn't drink. Apparently this bug has been present for over a year for some people, it makes the game literally unplayable. Can't drink, can't really play. If this bug stops happening, I will update my review for it. Couldn't really get much into the general sound design, with being unable to be on planet for more than like half an hour, but it sounded well done for what I did hear. The general environment was beautiful and it looked like it could almost be a real place. The animations for the animals looked great and the general game play seemed to be very good. can't recommend it though if it can't be played.

People hated the game because of the events surrounding Hideo Kojima at the time of release. The game itself is pretty alright, maybe 6/10. It could have easily gone up to an 8/10 if it was supported. It lost support right away from the company because no one played it, with them being all bootyhurt about Hideo leaving. Honestly its worth a try just for the survival and later TD styles to it.

Great game. Pretty fun to play solo just to chill out after work and just farm or craft things with a little more in depth combat than something like Stardew. My only complaint is the swamp area. That ♥♥♥♥ is more tedious than Blighttown from DS1. Half the enemies slow you, basically all poison you, the water poisons and slows you. Its just not a great area. I can understand if this game is meant to be tedious or difficult or soulslike, but its not meant to be. Solo its just plain annoying and the enemies can shoot over the grass, while the player cant. Just frustrating. The rest of the game was spectacular and relaxing though. 8/10 ********/xx

PS- Maxed poison resist doesn't help the tedium

This game is a coding mess and it controls like resident evil 1 without the stationary camera, the controls are janky and so is the games reaction. Sometimes the conversations you have with characters is like the Skyrim NPC conversations. You say one thing and their response is about a completely different topic. But the story is worth the jankyness. So I will have to recommend it just for that reason alone. It may not be the best written, but the way the factions interact with one another is quite interesting.

I was going to leave a middling review, but then an update broke the WSAD keys while doing puzzles, menus, shops, basically all but movement. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but you cant do any of the puzzles then. So now I'm stuck in a poison well and unable to leave because the update broke the puzzle functions and you cant use anything else to move the puzzle.

Overall the game was more Meh than anything. maybe a 6/10 with the improved connectivity, whenever that comes out. The gunplay reminds me of OG gears. you learn pretty quick in here as well that cover is a detriment most of the time, especially on the higher tier expeditions. Against mutants, cover is actually useless and more likely to get you killed than anything. The guns feel good to shoot, except shotguns. Like most shooty games, the range is about 2 meters, even with the slug shotties. Pistols are your friend, and the abilities will save your skin. The story is the best aspect of the game, but starts to fall short during the later half. Its easy to connect with a few of the characters and that makes later in the game more impactful. The side stories are a little interesting, though they feel tacked on. Same with the expeditions, they feel like it was something that was just added to be more of an endgame filler. I'd say get it on sale, if at all. Full price, let alone pre-ordering, was a mistake on my part. Hopefully it is improved upon, it still has potential with future updates.

Single flamethrower. Not like a squad, but a single guy, took out the elite promoted hero super mech. Not just one of the hero variants of the normal ones, but the largest one called Brunhilde. While it also had gunner mounted inside of it as well. Didn't bother to send reinforcements because it shouldn't have even been a fight. Mind you this flamethrower also ran past 3 HE cannon bunkers with gunners inside. I then watched it run past the Ai ally I had and it took out their entire base and I just let it happen because of the stupidity of the entire situation. Also the AI in here cheats harder than even in Civs. Watched the AI build up multiple mech groups of about 6 at a time when they had no resource points at all. If you like cool mech pew pew steampunk games, get this. the story is pretty great, other than that its really not worth the money at all. Maybe on sail at like 80%, but that's about it. Also mod support for this game might make it worth it.

TLDR;

Con
-Damage counts don't make much sense (Single Flamethrower Unit > Mega Hero Tank, MG bunkers, general mechs)
-cheating/bad AI
-Not much of a base builder
-general skirmish or pvp not well made
-unit variety

Pros
-good story
-good soundtrack
-good visuals
-steampunk mechs
-BATTLE TIGER/BEAR/WOLF
