Neat stuff, fair price, most importantly they are starting to learn that visible modifiers are good. One day they may even start showing costs and requirements to event choices.

Playing this for a second time after playing on the gamepass,
TLDR: an improvement on the first that almost makes the new movies worth it

I was a fan of the first one even as broken and illogically setup as it was. This game for the most part addresses the problems and nonsense that plagued the first one. For one herbivores can actually eat the plants around them, and for a nice balance different dinosaurs need different foliage. This is a nice balancing act that while two species may get alone well enough, their pen isn't large enough enough to support enough plants of each required variety so you need to make adjustments, great. Biggest downside is that while the game actually tells you what other species it gets alone before you make then, the area requirements, at least to me, are kinda useless. You can ballpark that a sauropod is gonna need a bigger area than a theropod but as to how big a difference is harder to tell. This can be circumvented by making larger areas which depending on the mission should suffice. This leads into the two biggest improvements imo.

MAPS ARE BIGGER. While the areas may be not that much larger than the predecessor they aren't confined to small snaking sections that limit the pens to small groups except for maybe one large enclosure at each end of the map. No idea why the last game omitted this since it still came out on the same platforms. Secondly, dinosaurs have territory that is visible and they forage in. Perhaps a reason why the last game encouraged smaller enclosures was that in larger ones dinosaurs could wander away from their food sources and then get upset and potentially die despite being within the same paddock as their food.

People complain about the campaign being lame and it is. Contentless movie tie in that squanders maps (idk maybe they were added to sandbox later on, I haven't checked on that yet). The real content is in challenges and chaos theory. Challenges is up to personal taste but at least half the chaos theories are good. Chaos theory is as if each movie had actually worked out*. Park 1 and World 1 are pretty good, Park 2 would be great if not for the jank in the colosseum esc building, park 3 is awful since you spend most of your time collecting dinos then sending them off, which I guess makes sense based on the movie but works best as a tutorial level that actual mission. World 2 is somewhere between park 3 and the good levels.

Perhaps the worst part is the jank in the core mechanics. Thankfully dinos no longer wander away from their food but the pathing on the rangers and medics is terrible. I don't remember them being this bad in one but they were also used a lot less. For some pens I have to manually drive the trucks there half of the time since they will say path unavailable when they most certainly are not. The second is on levels that had aquatic dinosaurs they would sometimes get stuck in the walls of the fake lake and be unrescuable and die. This last point may have been fixed since I last played but unsure.

There are other details that differ but honestly they come down to personal opinion. If you hated the first game this probably won't be any different but if you had any opinion above that I would recommend at least trying it.

Pretty neat experience. You can tell that this was made by a smaller/inexperienced team but besides from the limitations already said by other people the ability to swing around like [generic spider character] or surf on massive ice sheets created before you is unbeaten.

Had the original and never finished it, saw they sold this for $10 as an upgrade, waited for it to be on sale even further and it seems worth that. Can't imagine paying full $35 cause as others have said this isn't a remaster, its a new texture pack.
