The past is a gaping hole. You try to run from it, but the more you run, the deeper, more terrible it grows behind you, its edges yawning at your heels. Your only chance is to turn around and face it. But it's like looking down into the grave of your love, or kissing the mouth of a gun, a bullet trembling in its dark nest, ready to blow your head off.


There was no glory in this. I hadn't asked for this crap. Trouble had come to me, in big dark swarms. The good and the just, they were like gold dust in this city. I had no illusions. I was not one of them. I was no hero. Just me and the gun, and the crook. My options had decreased to a singular course.

The way I see it.. there are two types of people: those who spend their lives trying to build a future. And those who spend their lives trying to rebuild the past

Scramble away of what's left of your life, over dead bodies and a few loose roof tiles. If I thought things through I may have sat down and let my myself burn right there.

I had no idea what lay ahead, and as much would rather would be anywhere else, I knew this is where I had to be... I felt responsible. I just had to fix the situation, right here.

You have to get hurt. That's how you learn. The strongest people out there, the ones who laugh the hardest with a genuine smile, those are the people who have fought the toughest battles.

Rarely is the destination the reward, the reward is quite often the journey.
