I really do want to recommend this game - I like the way handles card interactions and hope there'll be more games making use of it.

However, the first thing that can be bothersome but isn't too bad is that you're dependent on drawing the right amount of resources along with the cards you wish you play, which can often leave you with no resources or cards to play them with. Not an issue for an experienced player, but a beginner might think the game is rigged when it was just random bad luck that happens about once every 5-6 games or they don't realize they're building inconsistent decks.

Also, the writing is kinda bland and relies heavily on stereotypes - many characters of the same race act the same and have the same opinions on the world and its inhabitants, which leads to rather repetitive storytelling.

What is really the kicker is the community, though - recently, there have been posts in the forums and reviews pointing out a rather tasteless joke that feels insulting to transgender people (and a few other things considered inappropriate) and instead of trying to understand the reasoning of the posters, posting a simple apology or even just leaving them alone after stating their wish to not change the offending cards, they continuously whine about how they're whiny snowflakes trying to push their agenda on them, even to the extent of trying to get their reviews deleted off of Steam.

Regardless of your opinion on the card*, you shouldn't deal with a community this hateful and petty.

*The card is called "Princess Cory" https://ineeddiversegames.files.wordpress.com/2016/02/pricesscoryarena1.jpg?w=247&h=343&crop=1 - it displays the maker of the game, a cis man, in a pink dress, who, according to the Kickstarter campaign, was portrayed as wanting to do anything to get the game made, with the drag performance supposed to be prostitution.

Hillary Clinton actually. Bill's a bro and one of our best historically.

Your friend started his shit-flinging well before arriving on the forums and continued it there, attacking people who weren't even in opposition to him. When you start attacking everyone in range regardless of what side they're on... yeah, you're the problem.

Fact is, every public space has topics that should not be discussed. Almost every game forum already bans religion and politics from the discussion. Not to be rude to people who are religious or political but because these hot-button topics spark flame wars. Your topic is another of the sort and that's why it's being discouraged.

If you want to start shitstorms with buzzwords and trigger topics, do it in your own personal space. Not a public area where people don't need to deal with your bullshit.

He was only presenting what others said - and even if they accuse him of just doing these things to piss them off, they still can't shut up about him even one moment. I was even just defending the rights of -others- to critisize the card - did you not pay attention to me saying I can personally live with it being in the game? And the fact I'm trying to bring light to my friends voicing concerns the entire time?

Not to mention conveying that dudes in dresses are funny is just as much part of a game as how it plays, what engine it runs on etc.

Also lol at you putting Bill Clinton on the same level as Hitler and Stalin

While there are a few people with some basic decency on the forum, it's not really making it better if the mods stay back while NicoSharp is doing his relentless shit-flinging.

You can't dismantle my arguments if you cannot even comprehend what I'm saying...

Your experiences are not universal. You would do well to remember that before you attempt to speak for others.

My words accurately describe what you and your friends are doing. If you find them wild or too strong that just shows you lack an understanding of your own statements. You refuse to admit to yourself that you're doing something wrong here and can only justify it by painting - literally - an entire community as bigots.

The height of egoism, my pronoun friend. The problem isn't with everyone else. The problem starts with you.

On top of this, you claim that people aren't accepting that you didn't like the card... who did that? No one argues that you need to accept the card, they're arguing from their own point of view which differs from yours. However, as your friend said in the first post, he has surprised the card wasn't sparking outrage. Why? Because people who don't share your opinion on it were fine with it?

You ARE pushing an agenda. This is mob psychology, mass brainwashing, an attempt to convert people to your way of thinking by force. Forums and Discord channels are a neutral zone where players can discuss the GAME without getting into offensive topics or throwing around labels like "cisdude" or "you people" <-- the latter of which would you get murdered if said to a African-American in Newark.

There are three people I can list right off the back of my hand that did exactly this sort of tactic.

Hitler
Stalin
Clinton

"The comment says that he experiences his trans friends finding the art repulsive and that they didn't want to check out the game for that, with him just asking kindly not to be disrespectful to anyone."

No, that's the initial comment, which was received fine. It's the way he began quoting out of context, twisting words, and attacking literally every player even the ones on his side that you should read into.

FYI, Nicosharp is NOT a community manager. He's one of the guys who moderates the community-made Discord, that's all. Here's his view on what happened.

You didn't leave the discord because of people unwilling to listen, you were driven out because you came with hateful labels and threw them around a public chat.

The comment says that he experiences his trans friends finding the art repulsive and that they didn't want to check out the game for that, with him just asking kindly not to be disrespectful to anyone.

I also like your "your opinion is wrong" thinking that I'm assimilating cis people for asking people to accept that they didn't like the card. And you even compare requesting mutual respect to the crusades xD

And I left the discord group both because there's no point in me trying to argue for anyone there, especially with the community manager plugging his ears and singing loud when people are being hateful.

Finally, I can't really argue against your 'force agenda' claims anymore because you and those statements are completely detached from reality and you repeat them like a broken record.
Kyutaru 11 Thg01, 2017 @ 10:45am
This is about as bad as having Christians come onto your private forums or chat channels and try to convert everyone in there to their way of thinking. You're damn right people won't stand for it and want it to stop. It's not oppression... it's knowing where and when the time and place for such actions are. Public places are a neutral zone, not a place to force your agendas.
Kyutaru 11 Thg01, 2017 @ 10:42am
Additionally, this topic came into being because they were bitching about it in the community-run Discord and one of the admins told them to stop. You can rebel like a spoiled teenager all you want but follow the rules when it comes to authority. If you don't like the laws, go build your own country/discord/game.

"Lastly, you have to admit you're not actually reading my posts if you didn't notice that removing offending content isn't required - just that it's an option."

Are you fucking serious? Your list of options all cater to the same goal... you want them to recognize that you're right and everyone else is wrong. Talk about not reading posts... you haven't read a word I've written if you still believe that's the reasonable outcome. You don't get to force your beliefs down other people's throats.

This: http://board.hex.gameforge.com/index.php?thread/52622-hextcg-and-purposeful-exclusivity/ is the topic you're talking about and it was started by a poster who did nothing but bait, goad, misinterpret, and misrepresent the statements of others. When everything you read sounds like an insult it's because you're reading it that way instead of trying to understand someone else's point of view.

Your friends are committing the very sin you're arguing against. <_<

The girls at places like Hooters aren't exactly an example of this because they consent to this. It's not like they're run by pimps who hold them captive.

Also, I actually agree with you on the fact that the depiction of Cory isn't horrible (aka nothing I get worked up over, yet something I don't find funny), it's the disproportionate amount of backlash the others got for deciding to say they don't like it.

Lastly, you have to admit you're not actually reading my posts if you didn't notice that removing offending content isn't required - just that it's an option. Actually listening to what people have to say is really cool, you should try that one day.
