This is the best tactic game at the moment.
It wasn’t love at first sight. Quite to the contrary – accustomed to the glamor and glitter of X-Com 2, at first I was disappointed year ago and regretted that I donated (initially it looked worse than now). But I gave the game a chance – and that was the best I could do.
The game revealed itself gradually. Every difference from X-Com 2 was a revelation. The most serious Sci-fi story. Independent factions with their own havens to build relationships with. Many classes, but not only that - the ability to combine them, so that you can create anyone, even a berserk-sniper. An unprecedented variety of enemies. Realistic ballistics and a very complex firing system - each bullet does its own damage. Destructability of everything - if you wish, you can raze the entire map to the ground. The ability to disable the enemy as you wish – there’s no necessity to kill him. Tons of weapons with any damaging factor. Transport. Battle beasts. Mutations! Augmentation! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FLAMETHROWER!!! I haven’t never seen anything similar. The king of tactics and X-Com 3 was hiding behind an unprepossessing signboard. After playing Phoenix Point, I tried to play X-Com 2 and was surprised - it was so boring. It was like missing a lot of vital things that I'm already accustomed in Phoenix Point. And if you also consider that the next DLC will contain air battles...
Several responses to particularly frequently encountered points of criticism.
"Raw game". I don't even quite understand what that means. However, I must say that the game is more "baked" than X-Com 2 has ever been: there is not even a part in it of the features that Phoenix have.
"Bugs". I do not know in what mode and for how long the game was tested by those who say about "a tons of bugs". In 260 hours of playing, I saw 3 bugs that have already been fixed.
"The game does not have that one, the other, the third...". All who say so forget one (the most important thing) - this is not an AAA class game, but INDY. Created with donations. However, such criticism is even good – It shows that the game is perceived as AAA.
So, Phoenix Point has set new standards for tactical games and is the undisputed leader in the genre today.

So unique. So perfect. It reveals some deep emotions without any word. It reminds me of "Tension" - one of the best games you've never played.

First - fly in the ointment.
1. Bugs. A lot of them. Only me discovered the following: the hovering of the body thrown on the shoulder in the air; hanging of a body in the air when you put it into cover (however, this does not affect its detectability by enemies); sometimes Fetisov's skill when he shoots a cone from a submachine gun does not work (and I don't even know what it is connected with), though this is his most important ability. The number of bugs is completely unsurprising and completely forgivable given the size of the development team. They will gradually fix the bugs, but the game will remain.
2. The number of people on missions. The logic of sending three people to the last, most difficult, tasks is incomprehensible. I was sure that four could be sent on the last assignment, but no! Well, come on, does it religion that won't allow you? Or is three is some special lucky number? I understand that this is explained by the need not to attract attention, but I am not asking a whole squad. At least four! Moreover, on some assignments we have four people - but not on the last! No, of course, in fact, the tasks are quite comfortable with three, but still ... In general, here I rather grumble and the voice of a swag lover speaks in me)
3. Level-up. Even Zorin himself cannot be leveled up to the end - not to say about other characters. And this despite the fact that almost all killings I committed secretly (the game generally directly pushes on a secret path, but this is its plus, which I will talk about later). And I also don't quite understand why the developers decided that. Is it for partisans don't turn into uber killing machines? They will not, even with full skills. In general, this is also more my grumbling than a sensible remark.

Now is ointment, because, as comrade Isaev teaches us, it is the last words that remembered.
1. I never imagined that I would play my favorite Commandos in a genetically familiar environment. For this alone, the game can already put an unconditional A.
2. The characters of the heroes. They are really different, so the heroes differ not only in their abilities. The authors somehow managed to create real, living characters that you empathize with with a few lines of biography and voice acting, and together with Fetisov you shout "Eat the lead!" and together with Morozov you whistle falsely "Buy bagels, hot bagels") The commissar is absolutely wonderful, a man of iron will and iron hand. "I myself will not give up and I will not allow others" - that is how it should be.
3. Much has been written about this already, but it is a true reflection of reality. The Soviet people are not represented as bloodthirsty madmen who kill for the sake of murder, and at the same time are at war only because there is a "zagradotryad" (c) behind them. Moreover, for an attentive player, the game provides an opportunity to feel those conditions. If you have no food, what will you do? It is not good to take food away from local residents, who were already robbed by the Germans, but you are taking away, in essence, not in order to eat and be in comfort, but in order to continue the struggle. The commissar blew up the train and thus caused a punitive operation against local residents. Yes, he did it on purpose. But had he rather to sit in the headquarters and do nothing? It isn't him who started this war, it isn't him who harm civilians.
4. Excellent display of battle. First of all, guerrillas shouldn't get involved in combat at all. If the battle has begun, then the partisan was mistaken. Combat is the task of the regular units. The partisan's tasks is sabotage and stealthy murders; he will lose in a direct battle. Therefore, the game is pushing with all its might to covert passage, and rightly so. Skirmishes are well displayed. Leaned out - fired, didn't really aim - hid. Repeat until you hit or be hitted. One, or, if you are STRONGLY lucky, two hits on you - and you're gone.

Me, like all people, rarely go through the game to the end, and do it only when the game is something special. So this is the very case. For fans of Commandos - a must-have, for the rest of the players - they may also like it and be introduced into the world of tactical games.
