What a game. Definitely returned the series back to the original spirit of Halo without using nostalgia as a crutch. Ignore the complainers on the internet.

I was very happy to play another rwby game after so much time, the designs are wonderful, the music is great as usual, and the story feels very rwby.

The gameplay is catching some heat in the reviews, but I think it's rather charming and some are missing the point. The characters are different but don't cement themselves into certain roles, which gives you more flexibility to just play as who you like minus the pressure of feeling as if one is clearly worse than the other in a certain role. Sure if you dump all your skill points in one you can blow through anything, but where's the fun in that? You have that option, but take some time to experiment with the different melee ranges/speeds, and firing rate/cost of each ranged attack. Blake's ranged attack is cost effective and fast when in a bind, and Weiss' ranged can be risky but packs a heavy hit (30 damage) when upgraded if you have the aura and opportunity to nail a couple of shots. Each character's semblance is very usable in combat if you get the hang of using them, but it takes creativity and a willingness to play around with them.

I'm 10 hours in and still not finished with the game, I sense that it's potentially a very short game, but you can extend your play time by turning off quest markers and searching for items by yourself. It's more rewarding and invites you to speak to NPCs for clues, as they always have wise words to point you in the right direction. The game provides a good enough environment to get immersed in and not feel that you need to rush anything.

All in all I'm very much enjoying the game, it may not be the pinnacle of depth when it comes to upgrades and combos/parries/blocking, but I venture to say that that isn't the point. There's power in its simplicity. If you need skill trees and complex combos to enjoy a platformer, then this game just isn't your style.
