Inspired by "Super Meat Boy", but doesn't quite reach the class of the original, still a nice platformer.

Decent game for in between, especially for this price.

The best thing about the game is the world itself. The game rewards you for exploring. Literally everywhere, you can find something that is worth the time you spend exploring. We are not only talking about new items you can find, you can also find complete new areas with questlines and several boss fights, which you will miss if you do not take time to explore your environment. And exploring the world feels so natural, as if it could be a real world because everything is so well connected. Gameplay-wise, the game is pretty decent, which also makes it fun to play. For me, the gameplay itself doesn't feel that fresh anymore, because since the original Demon's Souls back in the day, a lot of similar games have come out, but at least you know exactly what you can expect. This might be ignorable for folks who are kind of new to this genre, but what you definitely can't ignore, is that they recycle some bosses and areas later in the game, so you kind of lose some motivation to explore the world in the endgame stage. Nevertheless, I had a great gaming experience, which I highly recommend.

Highly recommended, as the puzzles are very well designed. Possibility to play with friends in co-op makes it especially good. Had a blast with one of my friends.

The game itself is quite nice, but you are forced to repeat the same missions over and over again in order to collect enough money to advance in the game, which is why the fun of the game is lost over time. Therefore, only partly recommendable.

Road 96 is a story-driven game like Life is Strange, but it has its own approach, which is refreshing. If you like these kind of games, you can't go wrong with this one, although I found the story lacking in depth in places, which made the experience a little less enjoyable.

Since you can't post neutral reviews on Steam, I unfortunately have to post a negative review. The game itself is strongly inspired by Banished and this is one of the strongest points of criticism in my opinion. It feels like a copy without having any significant ideas of its own. The basic concept itself is solid, as is the implementation of it. But at the end of the day, it remains a Banished in a post-apocalyptic setting. The lategame in particular lacks content. Whereas Banished has a workshop and thus has additional content and can thus overcome content problems, there is no access to the workshop here. According to the community, the DLC is supposed to bring a lot of new content, but I personally can't comment on this. As mentioned at the beginning, I would prefer to give the game a neutral rating, as it is solid at its core, which is why I can recommend it in the sale if you want to give it a try. However, you shouldn't expect a masterpiece.

Nice game for in between, but lacks long-term motivation.

I can't recommend the game. The game contains relatively few mechanics and they are repeated over and over again. So it becomes repetitive very quickly, which is why the fun of the game is lost. The different maps with different settings, escape possibilities and difficulties can't help either, because the basic concept is the same again and again.

My first impression after the first run on the difficulty "normal" is very good, but you can tell that the game is still early-access. Currently some game mechanics are still missing, e.g. more battle arenas, time limit, bank credits. The roadmap sounds promising, but it remains to be seen whether the ideas will actually be implemented. The game definitely has potential and for the current 8€ or 9€ (as soon as the release sale is over) you can play it, even if many elements are still missing due to early-access. Due to time constraints, I can't give any information about replayability yet.

Update:

After a few re-runs on different difficulties and settings, I can say that the replay value is relatively low at the moment. There are currently still difficulties with the balancing of the classes, so there is little reason to try different set-ups. In addition, there is little content due to early-access.

All in all, it's okay, but falls short of its potential.
