Charles Lee Ray was born in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1958 to parents Elizabeth and Peter. In 1965, an unknown serial killer operated in Hackensack, who mercilessly killed the residents of the city. One night, the killer sneaks into the Ray's house, where he brutally kills the head of the Peter family with a knife. Charles witnessed the murder of his father, and Elizabeth, who came running, quickly takes her son upstairs and hides in the closet with him. However, something happens to Charles Lee Ray's mind, and he decides to help the killer by brutally killing his own mother with a folding knife. When the killer goes upstairs and opens the closet, he sees little Charles and the bloody corpse of his mother. The boy smilingly tells the killer that he helped him, and he praises Charles and advises him to always hide evidence. After that, the killer says goodbye to Charles Lee Ray and leaves the house, leaving the boy in the house with his murdered parents.
