Having a sudden urge to come back and play this again now thanks to DL2 being a pretty big disappointment. What a much better game than the latter! Really makes you wonder how they managed to screw the newest one up when DL1 was near perfect.

Truly a masterpiece, it has been a long while since I've played a roguelike with a superb story with top notch voice acting on top of excellent gameplay. The humor isn't cheesy either! Definitely has made me laugh quite a few times here and there. The story was quite lengthy despite how good I was doing for the most part, didn't complete the main story until about 40 hours in and there is still so much more afterwards, so much unheard dialogue and side quests! This game deserves GOTY.

Early Access Review
Only 7.4 hours on steam but I am a very old player, had started playing it mid 2012 or so which was before it was even on steam and when it was only $5! Best $5 I ever spent along side Minecraft way back in late 2009-2010.

But judging by the screenshots, it shows that it has come a long way since then. From what it seems the ship building is still there and that is what made this game for me, along with tons of customization and possibilities for your ships.

The combat is definitely a lot different from what I remember, it is a lot more complex but intuitive and has very much been built upon these so many years. A ton more variety!

Planets are so much better compared to back then also, back then they use to be shaped as a circle and had 2 faces, top and bottom and were very laggy, especially if a giant ship got next to one it most of the time crashed some multiplayer servers or caused severe de-sync/lag.

The list of changes and improvements can go on but for now I will end it here until I get a bit more knowledge but so far it is a definite recommend for anyone who loves a bit of sandbox ship building/exploration!

Not recommended till the amount of $ in microtransactions is lower then the cost of the game itself, this is just insane! If you are a completionist, stay away from this game and spend that money on MULTIPLE other games, Triple-A games at that.

I see why this game just collects dust in my library...going back to COH1, it is better anyways cause it doesn't follow this "All games must have a ****ton of microtransactions to succede" meta.

Definitely a fun little game however it can go stale pretty fast but that is up too you. There are bugs as said in some other reviews but many if not all I have never encountered. Just a nice relaxing fish game! I really hope the devs continue to put work into this and popularize it. It's a gem in a big big world.

Short and sweet:

Fantastic game, but with the usual qwerks of a newly released game. That being bugs, glitches, flying trucks, oh my! Some of them game breaking. Was it worth the $18? Yes, and it is not even a finished game yet, some systems and content have yet to be implemented and unlocked.

Consider this a Early Access title or early Beta stage. It has some work needed too be done. But if you can look past these problems, there is a gem hidden in there, and that is Gold Rush: The Game.

Not recommended at all until Creation Club is removed. Having to pay for mods for a SINGLEPLAYER game is just unbelievable and UNHEARD of. Looks like another great gaming company going down the drain...and taking their games and fanbase with it.

I didn't want this to be my first review but, this is definitely something that needs to be changed...
