I've put 40 hours into the demo alone before the release, and now another 40 hours with the full game I can confidently say that Diceomancer is an incredible deckbuilder roguelite!

This game has two major things going for it:

- First being the wonderful presentation with its hand-draw "story-book" artstyle, creative animations for both the foes and your own actions, crispy sound effects, and light-hearted humor and vibes. It's very charming and full of developers' love and passion!

- Second being the unique core mechanic of using Dice to alter ANY number you see on screen! It is as insane as it sounds, the possibilities are almost endless and as your knowledge of game mechanics grows, you will be able to abuse the number-changing power to rig and break the game in creative ways. But that doesn't mean that the game is easy, it's quite the opposite, it's a very challenging game that only gets harder on higher difficulties. As of this review I only managed to reach Ascension 14, and let me tell you, at this stage I have to be on a constant look-out for optimal rigging opportunities to have any chance of victory. It's as if both I and the Game are stuck in a deadly match of who can out-cheat the other. Peak Roguelite Gaming!

But beyond the Dice mechanic, there are plenty of other complex game systems that allow for amazing variety - Mana colors determine which class you will be playing and you can even get Cursed Black mana during the game to switch to a "secret" new playstyle, all the cards have various keywords that allow for all kinds of synergies, a plethora of Relics (whose effect numbers you can alter) that will further boost a particular build, events with dice roll checks, etc. All that allows for insane replayablity.

Oh and MOST IMPORTANTLY - there is Fishing. That's the ultimate goal of this game!

Diceomancer is easily one of the best deck-builder rogulites in my opinion! So bravo and huge thank you to the Ultra Piggy Studio!

Northern Journey is described as HappySad by the creator, it's a Norwegian slang as far as I understand , and I initially thought it would just be like melancholy, but no, it really is HappySad, you would recognize this feeling right away, you probably just don't have a word for it. And contradictory concepts like that can be felt throughout the game:

It's CreepyFunny, there are a lot of unsettling characters and events, but they are so amusing and entertaining you can't help but smile. It reminds me of reading these spooky books for children, that were based on folklore but were so full of humor and weirdness, where the normal but dense protagonist would find himself in weird and scary situations but would just go along with it and come out on top through hilarious and bizarre chain of events. You are playing as the protagonist of such a story here

The atmosphere is damp and moist, it's constantly foggy and there is frequent rain, but it's not miserable - it's fresh and pleasant, you can almost smell the wet pine and moss

The levels are vast, especially vertically, you will be crossing huge distances from one end to another before realizing you have gradually raised in elevation and now can look down hundreds of meters below to see where you started. But you never get lost, the levels loop around and connect to other maps in interesting ways, but there are still plenty of secrets to find, often in plain sight

There is some platforming but the most tense moments are simply walking along cliff edges where you are unsure of your own footing. And it's not all just walking, you would be surprised with the sheer variety of modes of transportation you will encounter on this journey

The combat is a projectile based shooter, think slings, bows, crossbows and throwing weapons, yet it has some of the most satisfying feedback, requiring both skill and tactical approach with each weapon being best suited for different situations

The enemies are mostly various kinds of over-sized insects and spiders with a number of folklore creatures thrown in, but they are all unique and have move-sets that are both engaging and fit perfectly with their environment

Your objectives are very clear, in fact the main NPC will go out of his way to remind you what to do constantly, but you still have to use your head and think how to reach those objectives and navigate the environment logically. It is incredibly immersive

And finally the sound design is crispy and the music is ethereal. The ambient sounds of the forest, the footsteps while walking over log bridges, the deafening waterfalls and howling of winds, and especially the weapon sounds. Part of the excitement about finding new weapons was just being able to hear the satisfying sounds of their mechanisms. As you'd expect, this game's music is based on Norwegian folk but it has so much extra added to it - eerie chanting, pumping bass and synth replacing some of the traditional instruments to add to the weirdness. But it all works so perfectly, there is this particular "musical performance" that you will come across that will feel straight out of a folklore tale, exactly how I imagined those particular stories as a kid

And I think that's why I connected with this game so much, it tapped into those childhood memories of reading folklore of various cultures, with all its weirdness, bizarre characters, ridiculous events, and timeless humor. It appeals to my simple enjoyment of nature and scenery, both beautiful and terrifying. And it's just a really well crafted, old school game, where you can feel the love, passion, and soul, that the developer put into it personally

It was a wonderful experience, and when it was over, I was neither upset nor glad that it ended, I was simply satisfied with the whole journey. And I hope you too will find just as much enjoyment as I did with Northern Journey

Thank you Slid Studio!

Scorn is a horrifying, breath-taking, disturbing, beautiful, and undoubtedly unique experience!

You will walk through a dead world born out of a union between H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński's nightmares. Your goal is to find a way forward while solving some of the most unique and visually impressive puzzles. Not only that includes the traditional "mechanical" puzzles, but the level design and combat themselves are a part of that grand puzzle, pushing you towards the narrative mystery.

There is no hand-holding, you will have to learn the workings of this alien world, find familiar patterns, and always think about the bigger picture if you wish to progress. That includes carefully managing the scarce resources you will get. You are in for a challenge.

Scorn is roughly 5 hours long, depending on how well you do. A perfect length for such a game, very well paced, always keeping you on your toes, never letting you get too comfortable with it.

It is a horror game, but not one that tries to startle you with cheap jump-scares and forced tension. Scorn is the horror of constant existential dread, the unnerving depressing atmosphere, and disturbing implications. The kind of horror that stays at the back of your mind and makes you wonder...

We need more games like Scorn.

The most compelling RPG of the recent years, one of the few games that genuinely made me struggle with the moral choices and dilemmas throughout the game.
