This is my favorite game of all time, but...
Valve has neglected this masterpiece of a game. Bots and cheaters run rampant and casual matchmaking is unplayable by an standard. Valve is the best video game company on the planet. The way they have allowed this festering rot to take hold of the game is sad. Valve, we expected better of you.
Do not play this game.

The current military system is abysmal and makes conducting any warfare dreadful to play.
The game needs a complete military warfare overhaul.

I have never really been a fighting game fan.
Only ever tried Marvel vs Capcom, Mortal Combat N64 and an old version of Street Fighter.

This game as brought fighting games into a new light for me!
I can't recommend this game enough. Really great art direction and amazing net code!
Inputs are fast and concise. Long combos are challenging but rewarding.
My favorite thing about Them's Fightin' Herds is the absolutely breath taking music.
Every stage has a base song that is played. Depending on the characters used during the fight new instruments are added that match the feel of the character being used! It's truely amazing. I wish more games had dynamic music like this.

The only flaws that I can bring against the game:
Small but refined roster.
Dialouge synching problems.
Place holder animations.
The boss of the arcade mode is bland and a step down in difficulty than the normal characters you face.

All these problems can easily be chalked up to it being in Early Access and are most likely going to be fixed by the game's full release.

TL:DR : Buy it on sale. I have to begrudgingly give EU4 a positive as there is no "meh" option

Let’s begin with the aesthetic design of the game. The 3-D map looks pretty good for the most part; however the mountains all over the world map are massively exaggerated. Clipping issues can be seen in certain provinces between the unit sprites and the terrain/cost line. The base unit sprites are a vast improvement from EU3 but still seem lacking, especially in the variety of units (variety can be fixed if you want to pay for a million unit packs).
The vastly improved number of different map modes is a very big plus. The sheer number of them makes things a heck of a lot easier. This is also true for the quick build interface that allows you to build whole armies/navies of custom configurations (ex. 10 infantry, 3 cavalry 5 cannon) in one click. Buildings can’t be mass constructed at the same kind of level as EU3 as they cost monarch points now.
The included CKII to EU4 converter was actually a nice surprise. I would have expected Paradox to make it a DLC for 5-10 dollars. Which brings me to my first major gripe about EU4; the DLC policy.
EU4 isn't even two years old and yet there is over 100 dollars’ worth of DLC. This DLC culture is getting completely out of hand, especially in Paradox Interactive games.
Next the new trading system implemented. This has to be my biggest problem with the game. The trade is completely broken at the best of times. The "trade streams" that are implemented in the game are really convoluted and are extremely annoying to use. Trade from all over the world can only be pushed towards Europe. Under no circumstances can it be pushed away from Europe even if an Eastern country is the only dominate country in the world. (side note Paradox placed a new trade node into the game that completely messed up trading for the whole game world for any existing save games with large colonies in the Americas. I will hold that grudge for a long time. RIP Burgundy play through) Also expect Paradox to patch the game, then have your game crash constantly or have save games that are unplayable.
My last major problem is the new Diplomatic, Military, and Administrative points system (monarch points). The way these point are acquired and used make no sense at all.
Only having three categories is completely ridicules. More categories should have been put into the game from launch. The existing ones simply cover to broad of a spectrum. These points are used for to many things at the same time.
They are used for advancing technology, getting new ideas, peace treaties, constructing buildings, core creation, culture conversion etc...
The way you acquire these points is by your Kings/Queens random Diplomacy, Administrative and Military levels plus you advisors skill level and by random events. Events that I might add that can also take away large portions of your built up points.
Stability is also nigh impossible/meaningless to keep positive. “random” events also happen right after you raise your stability that will bring your stability down again or have your pay monarch points to keep your stability level.

All in all buy it on sale.
