most rpgs you will go in and there will be the main story and what are supposed to be side quests that are also part of the main story that you have to do for the main story anyway.

this is different. you can decide to jump off the rails and declare war on everyone in the game, having lots of reprocussions for doing so! or you can just settle down and make jewelry, buying the materials and/or mining them yourself, or taking them off the corpse of that random guy who apparently was sent to assasinate you! (watch out, this is a thing that can happen)

overall fun, so many stories within, lots of gameplay time, and lots of replay value so you can smile at yourself for utterly destroying an opponent who royally ticked you off in your previous run through.

Of all the games with large amounts of hours on my steam page (including the original terraria, dungeon defenders, skyrim, warframe, ect.) risk of rain 2 is probably the game that had its hours rise the fastest! you start out and its almost peaceful, and things progress in a way as more and more enemies spawn, that only after a while of being in the thick of combat, your mind stops for a moment to think about the change between the peace and quiet, and the full on battle royal you find yourself in that you last thought about. things then get even more insane after you start the teleporter. More mobs, a boss, and plenty of chaos! you duck and dive all over the place if you want to live until the boss is dead and the teleporter is charged. finally, you take the teleporter, and there is that feeling of peace once again... on drizzle you eve have to go looking for trouble and shrines before you can get anything done on the level.

as you play, the game lets you know about little things that happen to you, or that you made happen that unlock an item, a character, or unlock a portal that can be passed through at the end of the teleporter event.

after you have played it a bunch, and your mind starts to turn to unlocking things, you soon find yourself busy with achievements that you have to really work for. some on monsoon, some on an insane adventure through a gold portal that involves killing a golden giant (basically a stone golem ninja barbarian on steroids) after activating shrines to remove its invulnerability, and before the time that his invulnerability activates again and you have to reactivate the shrines.

a lot of the time, i have found myself looking online for the best ways to get these achievements, but then, i sometimes just get tired of throwing crap at the fan to see what sticks. for the most part, there are little or no easy roads to get the harder achievements.
